Robert, you are so right.I also spent my early teenage years a Vallejo Speedway. I ended up working on Paul Stornetta cars and ended up in the announcer booth with Jack Clayton. I also wrote for several newspapers in the area. I had my own column with the Napa paper. I attended Pauls funeral, the elks lodge was filled to over capacity. What a great competitor and also a great father and husband and just a great guy. His grandson is now facing a sprint car at Petaluma and visits other local tracks. Another great website is the West Capitol Raceway Alumi Association. I do not have the exact website name but you can google it. Remember Jumpin Joe Valenti the starter, another great guy. Remember when the start would not go his way and he came down off of the starters stand and bang the green flag on the hood of the car. That was all it took to get a good start. There are so many other stories. Can anybody out there come up with more stories.

we lived in San Pablo at the end of Stanton ave and one of my best Friends dad and brothers built stock cars and hardtops and my dad had some close friends with sprint cars and on Sundays after i got home from church Danny and myself would grab sludge hammers and pound out the dents and clean the mud out of the cars i remember Vallejo had an un spoken rule if u got bumped twice and did not get out of the way on the third bump u where going threw the fence and out into the cow pasture lol thats one of my favourite memory's seeing those cars flying threw the fence bouncing threw that field and coming back on the track sometimes threw the pits and sometimes back threw the fence lol but thy built a cement crash wall and stopped that

Was cool to go back to O'Keefe's site and see my Antioch photos still posted there. Wonder how Don and Linda are doing these days, anybody heard from them?
