This poll of the top stories of 2010 Sprint car racing is worth reading and this is one time I agree with Mr . Chiappelli on his reviews . Knoxville Nationals was the story of the year or race of the year , because of the driving skills of all the competitors especially Sammy Swindell and the eventual winner Tim Shaffer , who is the driver of the year in sprint car racing . This was a race that sprint car racing needed to put life back into races that have become rather boring . A new winner at Knoxville is what Knoxville needed to put it back on track .

With Sammy Swindell capturing the 50-grand finale, the rivalry continued to simmer. Although a Williams Grove regular failed to win, Swindell, who runs a “true outlaw” schedule without pledging allegiance to a particular sanctioning body, declared that he in fact is “not an Outlaw.”
