Two tracks have already signed their contracts for USRA modifieds, Outlaw and Tri-State. Verbal "in" there are four tracks and there are four tracks that are "on the fence."
This is coming straight from the USRA office, for modifieds only as of now. There has been no agreement as far as USRA and the tracks concerning the sport mods - or whatever you want to call them in this state.
|
can we call them constipated modifieds? lol
or better yet - "cooler looking factory stocks". lol yeah i like that one.

I just don't see how two tracks are gonna allow alcohol and go against every track in the state , sure does create a lot of un needed work for a weekend traveler like me . I heard it was due to lots of heating problems take a few min to fix the problem don't create another . Just think that wouldn't be a good idea would prob cause lots of out of town cars to go other places

Going to alky is going to add about 40 horsepower from what I hear. So I think if they decide to do that if you run gas you should be able to run a 750 4 barrel holly. Then if you want to go to another track carb is all you will have to change and I am sure there are a ton us who still have them from the old factory stock days.

More like 15 HP, but you will have to have twice as much in your tank. It ends up being a disadvantage for most because of the weight difference from start to finish. A lot of the USMTS guys run racing gas because of the weight difference alone.

According to theguys at willies carbs and quick fuels it is around 40 horse just quoting the professionals. I agree about the wieght but that is more for big shows where you run more laps. The lowers weight may help some of us sportmod guys. Not trying to argue with anyone just trying to state the info I received.

And Joey it is good that they are trying to put a cap on the carb at 400 or so but how many of them will head straight from Smileys or wherever bought and go to somewhere like BP for some internal work to make them a 1000 carb. I know if I had the money mine would.

Thunderbird Speedway will be running on Friday nights. Racing will start at 8pm. Classes will be modifieds, 360 modifieds, super stock, sportmods(running imca/ncra southern rules), street stock and pure stock. If all works out Thunderbird will be USRA sanctioned. Would already be sanctioned except another area track agreed to be sanctioned first and doesn't want Thunderbird to be sanctioned. Will keep you updated on this and hope everything works out for everyone. Meanwhile check out the schedule at www.thunderbirdspeedwaymuskogee.com. MERRY CHRISTMAS AND HAPPY NEW YEAR TO ALL!!!!!

the alky deal is not good..15 hp or 45 its more hp and in that class any jump in hp is an advantage..i dont have a sport mod but if i raced the class would be mad about this only way it save drivers money is if they give you the carb, regulater n for some the fuel pump cus all these cars have gas stuff thats ready to go..now yall will need to spend 470 on carb,100 on bypass seems like alot of money to me, stay gas and no need to spend 570..
and what erich..exactly the point lol

I talked to one carb builder and 2 motor builders and I was told 10-12% torq and around 5% hp increase on Alky.

Meeker announced on Facebook today that they are running on Friday nights next year. They also said they'll probably start about 8. I think it's a good move personally.
|
Sounds like a winner. 8:00 start time means 8:30 or 8:45 and then with a usual slow show we can all meet in Shawnee for breakfast.

Tony, if you think you can do better get a track. There are not many tracks left in the central part of Oklahoma. If you like to bitch about how a track is ran you are only hurting the area racing instead of helping it.

Erich You know there are. Many who could run a better operation than brill - and they wouldn't even need to sabotage other area race tracks to do it

It's not just Brill. Most oklahoma (and other states) tracks are making the same mistakes! The problem is they are so worried about making money on the back gate, they forget that this is a fan based sport, and the focus should be on the front gate and the fan experience and enteraction! And to be quite honest, the racers are just as guilty. When is the last time you heard a racer complain about the grandstand sound system, or the long line at the concession, or the real important one, the enthusiasum of the announcer?? As far as rule changes go, the formula should be very simple! 1. Does it improve the safety of the racers or spectators. 2. Does it improve the quality (side by side) of the racing. 3. Is it more affordable to the racer. 4. Does it allow the introduction of new cars That's really about it, but i tend to think that rules are used as a tool to lock racers into a certain track. Tracks got to figure out how to put asses in the grandstands, and i am not just talking about the close friends and family of the racer!

I will agree with post. It is just not one thing that makes a succesful program.

Just sit in the stands and pay attention every week about what time families get up from the grandstands and go home - and the races aren't even over yet. Chances are they won't become regulars. Programs really shouldn't take more than three hours to complete, if things are running smooth. And that don't mean you over loaded the track with water or put the cars out to wheel pack late blah blah blah.
