Well there is 4 (or 2 race weekends) races for the 5 races guaranteed by USAC and the commissioners for Dodge City already.

I bet the stands won't be half full. The WoO shows there and the sprint and late model shows NCRA brought had alot of very full crowds. There is a reason there are no USAC races in this region, people don't want them. Hell they all but killed the Belleville Midget Nationals.

Depending on what is going on that weekend and who is going to show up I might make a trip up to Dodge to see the sprinters.

It is all about bringing in somrthing than the norm.

They did real well @ 81 last time the midgets where here and the scra/tnt did good. But they have to do it more than one time, most around here would doit one year then you wouldn't see them again (usac midgets @ 81)

I'd be more inclined to travel to see USAC if the promoters didn't run 5 "support" classes to inflate the back gate. You wind up with a worn out, dusty track and a long show. Besides, they frequently inflate the pit gate prices to help out with purse, which ain't good for the local racers who need to show up. Give me a stand-alone midget or sprint show and I'll be there.

This is the same organization that told the Dodge City council that paving the track would be the best thing they could have done back when it was first built. I just hope they don't do the same thing this time around as it really caused alot of hate and discontent between the racers and the city.

AMEN! To me this goes with any weekly show also. I'm not setting in the stands till midnight, 1am etc. Even 11pm is almost to late unless unforseen things take place.

Less than 25 miles apart. Why don't they think about these things?

It will be a big weekend in August in and around the City of Dodge. The USMTS guys will be at Great American Dirt Track in Jetmore on Thursday night, August 11 with the USAC sprint cars at Dodge City Raceway Park on Friday and Saturday night.

YMEREJ, interesting you noticed that about the big Sunflower State Showdown in Jetmore for the MARS/NCRA/MLRA/CLMA late models being the same weekend as the USAC midgets at Dodge City.

I already have my hotel room reserved for the USAC sprints. Wingless 410's at Dodge will be incredible. That's a wide and fast track. At this year's WoO show there, they ran wingless 305's as a support class and those were very entertaining races. Can't imagine what 410's driven by the best in the biz will look like, but I plan to go find out.
