Hello, I am required to do a project for my History class at school. Our topic has to be on something that was big in the 1920's. I know this wasnt huge back then, but I would like to do my project on auto racing. However, I cannot seem to find many websites on racing in the 20's. I have tried searching it on Google, but I haven't had much luck. I know racing began in the late 1800's and the first Indy 500 was in 1911, so I do know there was lots of racing prior to the 1920's. If anyone knows of any drivers or tracks I could look up, it would be greatly appreciated! Also if anybody knows any websites that would have some information on them, they would be very useful as well.

Thank You Smile

RJ

Try a site called the history of auto racing. There is a section to the left side for links. The links has dirt track, drivers, tracks, etc. Might help, good luck.

Board Track racing was big in the 1920's. I had a site saved on my other computer, and can't remember the name of it. Try Google'n Board Track racing.

For more great info you should check out Eddie Rickenbackers biography. Great insight on early 1900's racing. He also owned Indy for a short time before selling it to Hulmans. He explains a lot of innovations that racers developed that became standards in the auto industry. Very remarkable man and a national hero.

There have been stories of Kids hanging out under the tracks. Popping flags up through holes in the track so drivers don't hit them.
