TRULY 1 OF A KIND.................LIKE NO OTHER.
I read something the other day that instantly reminded me of Al. It seems to perfectly portray the way he might have viewed living his life...
LIFE'S JOURNEY IS NOT TO ARRIVE AT THE GRAVE SAFELY,
IN A WELL PRESERVED BODY BUT, RATHER TO SKID IN SIDEWAYS
ALL WORN OUT, USED UP AND SHOUTING..... "MAN WHAT A RIDE"
Words will never really capture the feelings of loss by his passing...Still my hero rather in life or the hereafter...............rest in peace
LIKE NO OTHER!!!!!!!!! RACE ON
Renee

A truly great racer. I remember watching him win the Gold Cup @ West Capital in the early 70s, then later @ San Jose Speedway, Clovis and then seeing him in person one recent year @ Tulare. Rest In Peace.

To the Pombo family and racing community...Al Pombo, as you all are aware, set the standard in his day for hard core racing at its best...a hard charging competitor every-time he hit the race track and a true racing champion. He left behind a racing legacy that will be, at best, near impossible to equal.
Al did bring to the racing community a involved racing family as well as drivers themselves. David Pombo, Al's son,. who left us to be with our God several years ago and a true racing champion. Davey Pombo, Al's grandson, another racing champion Anthony Pombo, Al's grandson, a racing champion. Albert Pombo, Al's grandson, another family racer and several nieces, nephews and other grandchildren who will carry on the Pombo name. Every time we hear the family name we will always remember the "The Original"
AL POMBO #3 Rest in Peace
