FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE NOVEMBER 22, 2010 DICK JORDAN
VENTURA’S “ARP FALL CLASSIC” CANCELLED
The inability to complete necessary pit and raceway preparations at the Ventura (Calif.) Raceway prior to this Friday, following weekend rainfall in addition to the massive construction project in the outer pit area, predicted additional rainfall Tuesday afternoon into Wednesday morning and raceway and fairgrounds staffing problems over the holiday weekend, have led to cancellation of this year’s “ARP Fall Classic” USAC races at the southern California oval.
The raceway regrets that no feasible options remain at this time, resulting in the cancellation of the race which was originally delayed due to rain last Saturday.
The USAC Mopar Midget and Western Ford Focus series, which were originally scheduled as part of the Ventura program, will conclude Thursday night in the running of the 70th “Turkey Night Grand Prix” at Toyota Speedway at Irwindale, Calif. The Irwindale event also includes the AMSOIL USAC Western Sprint cars.

Now its time to try to get this show either run at Perris this Friday or added to Saturday nights races if the sponsors are willing to run it at the PAS instead!
Its never too late to try!

It is in this case. Too late for a promoter to do the advertising diligence needed to turn a profit.

No promoter would take the risk with so little time to do the promoting. After all, we are talking a few days, not a few weeks.

People like you and I would be there with a one hour notice but the track needs more people than hardcores like us to make it work for that kind of payoff. If the track has had some rough times getting people in the seats recently for shows that have been booked all year, its understandable why a track wont risk their ticket window with only a few days to promote. I get non weather track cancellations here that I wish would have run anyway so I can see some racing action. Then again, it isnt my neck on the line either.
I do some of the marketing / promotion strategies for my company and I have seen how things have changed since the economy has gone awry. Its much more challenging now than it once was and thats with plenty of promotion time.
I know you and I share one thing in common though, schedule it and we are THERE! That's because we are the "diehards"
