Well, he's just lucky Sammy, for the most part, kept to a real outlaw type schedule!

Haa haaa, that`s a good one! Sammy spent his whole career chasing that #11 tailtank! He came out on top a few times ,but for the most part he was chasing Kinser for the past 30 yrs!

I will give credit were credit is due...Sammy is one hell of a sprint car driver, midget driver and non-wing shoe...but there truely is only one KING! Sammy fans and Kinser fans will always bicker back and forth which really makes it fun. (I must admit I was even rooting for the 1 car at Knoxville just so he could beat the 15 car. Thank God for Tim Shaffer) P.S. mesprint...I really like the chasing the tailtank line!! NEXT

How much more revisionist history are we going to hear from Sammy's fans?
He ran a real Outlaw schedule not for titles. BS It was only recently that he started running an Outlaw schedule. He was a mainstay on the circuit for years. He was doing research and development when he was on tour. BS. He was racing to win. He thought he could win more by doing R&D and having a better car. He was not doing R&D for the sake of R&D. He was doing it to win.
The next thing you know, someone will try to tell us what a nice guy he was, and he was just mis-understood all of the time.

Those of us who have been witness to the Sammy vs Steve rivalry over the past thirty + years know we have seen racing as good as it gets! I have to admit I was pulling for Sammy at the Nationals, but unfortunately it wasn`t meant to be. Last year at Chico the drivers all came on to the frontstretch for the pill draw and there was a delay of probably 20 minutes or so. Steve and Sammy were having a chat the whole time both smiling and laughing like they had been best of friends forever. I never thought I`d see that, but I gotta admit that brought a smile from me just witnessing it. I was trying to explain to my sons that the two of them were very bitter rivals thier whole careers even as thier sons became friends. Dave Argabright wrote a great piece about "The Rivalry" It`s in his book "American Scene" I really think that they made each other better !

Sammy was a "non-wing shoe", not anymore he ain't. I'd like to see him in a non wing this weekend at the Western, but I won't... Some are doing double duty for the weekend, and he could get a ride if he wanted one. It hasn't happened in long long time, and I don't expect to see him in one again. Now Haud, that's another story.
Half the lies they tell about me aren't true.
