The strength of the Chinese manufacturing market is directly related to the desire of the American Consumer to have materialistic items, manufactured to a high standard, as cheaply as possible.
|
Except the "high standard" you got it right.
Some of you remember what Japan did to get in our market. Their goal was simple, to make the same products that we make here in the US, but better and cheaper, while China depends a lot on their mass produced junk you buy at the dollar store etc... Quality is not at the top of their list as in Japans case. China has a completely different mind set than Japan had, and has, as they came into our market.
Half the lies they tell about me aren't true.

This is from your article - "A lot of my companies have done business in China and they deal with reputable mills. There is a great deal of double-checking of products when they arrive, particularly when the products are used in critical applications," Phelps said. That applies as much to steel made in the United States, as it does from steel from China or other suppliers, he said.

Oops, sorry to bring up politics......
That's OK, there are times when people either don't care, or aren't aware of what there actions and habits allow to happen, and the consequences of them. A little friendly reminder is hardly out of line on these two threads.

the saddest truth to all this is some of the largest ships in the world leave china every day headed for the USA and then turn around and go back to china empty

Actually, politicians keep trying to take Jesus away too......
So it is a crime for the champion to drive a foreign made car with an American car sponsor? Before you bash, I have been to a Toyota plant, and I haven't been out of the country.....
|
Just because some Toyota's are ASSEMBLED here and I will say again ASSEMBLED here! Where the hell do you think the money goes in the sales of these vehicles and who still owns the company? Not a USA company and the money doesn't stay here.

I know of one thing that the Chine's people really like that we make, and it's a status symbol if their able to get them.... Our washers, dryers, stoves, and refrigerators, and guess what? They like the older models.

When I was living up in the Portland area in the early eighty's, we would watch them unload Japanese cars, and then load the ships up with scrap metal to take back to make more. They would also load up tons of recyclable paper too. If I remember right, at that time our scrap metal, and paper were our largest export.
I've been telling my friends for years that were going to have to do more than just sell each other Hamburgers.
Half the lies they tell about me aren't true.
