Last nights results don't exhibit the racing that went on for the 3 day event , non- wing racing continues to displays outstanding racing , action , passing , tremendous talent, that sprint car racing should display .Although Chris Windom won easily in front leading 1-40 laps , the racing behind him and watching driver Damian Gardner give it all he had in pursuing Windom , was by far more entertaining then any WoO RACE I've watched .

I personally say thanks to all persons who work at one of the finest facilities of racing in the USA .I also strongly suggest that all winged sprint car fans take in the Oval Nationals at least one time during their racing schedule or career as a fan of sprint car racing .The present non-wing USAC action is superior to what the WoO is presenting , not to take it away from the talented drivers who are members of the WoO legion of drivers . It is still the format and cars that have to be tweaked to regain the level of excitement that the USAC CARS ARE PROVIDING AT PRESENT .

The heirarchy of the World Racing Group needs to bring back the level excitement due there supportive fans of today & yesterday .

The fansfan, granted this weekends races were great on Thursday and Friday, and Satursday was OK. But if someone wants to see the best racing, go to the WINGED 360 Trophy Cup at Tulare. with lots more passing and action (this coming from a life long non-wing fan who hardly goes to WOO or winged races unless they are at TUlare)

For example, Oval Nationals had 3 weak 10 lap heats/semis whatever u call them, and a good 40 lap final on Saturday.

Trophy Cup had 6 Totally Inverted Heat races, 3 D-mains, C, 25 lap B Main, and A TOTALLY Inverted 50 lap A main for Saturday.

At Tulare the winner of the race started 19th, the overall winner started last (24th) finished 4th in the 50 lap main and won over $20 K for 2 nights. (and there was almost a pass on the last turn of the race for a lead change)

At Perris, Windon won $12,500 for 3 nights of racing and LED EVERY LAP OF THE RACE FROM THE FRONT ROW. I don't think anyone even attempted a pass of windom the whole race, as he stunk up the race upfront. Watching Damion come from 5th to 2nd was cool though and others coming forward too. But T Kaeding came from 19th to win at trophy cup, 2nd Larson came from 9th and 4th Allard from 24 (last). The first night, Allard cam from 11th or so to 2nd. (could be wrong on he exact start and finish, but he came a long way to grab the points lead)

"The present non-wing USAC action is superior to what the WoO is presenting" Maybe Perris and Oval nationals need to take a look "at the superior race action at the WINGED 360 races Smile.

Don't get me wrong, Thursday and Friday races at Perris were as good as they get. But Saturday's format has a little to be desired. For me, I might just skip Saturday's portion of the Oval Nationals next year. Just not enough bang for the buck for me. Tulares one night show of Midgets/sprints, Ventura's $10 k midget race, Irwindales sprint/midget double header offer better options for me. Guess I am spoiled, lots of great races and formats on the West Coast this time of year. Kinda a shame the Oval Nationals format kinda sucks on Saturday, just a couple of changes like adding real heat races WITH ALL THE DRIVERS would make it a great night of racing. Instead 3 weak races with the fast guys starting up front IE little chance of passing or making the transfer, than wait over an hour, and than waite for for the main. I have no clue why USAC or Perris have a lousy format for the last night when every other night of USAC racing has great formats. It's like they adopted a WOO format or something for the last night frown

The fansfan, gotta agree most of the WOO races I have seen at Perris (and most tracks) leave a little to be desired especially on the bigger tracks. But if you want to see some great racing, go to any winged race at Tulare WOO, GSC, etc (but especially the Trophy Cup).

Like fansfan said, the format is the key. Unfortantely the OVal Nationals format on Saturday is not that exciting to me, ESPECIALLY after having attended the trophy cup two weeks ago! But all fans on the West Coast should attend the trophy cup on Saturday the Oval Nationals (all 3 nights) and any night of racing at Ventura with sprint cars or midgets JUST ONCE. And the gold up at Chico too, unfortanetly I haven't made that race yet. Maybe next year.

Thats was scary when that incident happened with Darren. Especially when nobody said anything for a few minutes. Although Darren's injuries are serious and painful, it sounded like he could move all his limbs and a full recovery is expected. from his website. I sure was looking forward to seeing him race his midget at Tulare and Ventura.

Speedy recovery Darren and hope to see ya back on the track soon!!!!!!!!!!!!

On the stream the camera came right in on him as he came to a stop, and it looked like he was in a hurry to get out, as if it was hot down by his feet. He did manage to get unbuckled and part of the way out the top before he stopped. He was either sitting on the top of the cage, or standing on the seat and leaning on it at that time. Youth and adrenalin.

i thought usac was the top organization in the country? how do they let a driver intentionally try to take out another car under caution. and the only result is a black flag and score 19th.

I'm certainly not condoning what Levi did, and it's a matter of opinion, mine, but Levi didn't try to take him out. He did exactly what he wanted to do, and in a very calculated way..he wheel slapped him, and then drove off. As far as the penalty, I thought he'd loose his points for the night. No more, no less.

That's just not true, and Tony has caught hell for throwing a fit and putting his hands on a official for a call a few years ago.

My point was he fined or placed on probation? If he did that to NASCAR offical he would have missed at least 1 race and the pocketbook would have been much lighter.

Look! I've been around USAC since I was a kid, and that means from when they first took over from AAA in 56 when I was eight, and I've heard it all... Myself, I have a love hate relationship with them, but I'm glad their still around. Maybe now you'd like to pull your foot out of your mouth, or not!.......... "USAC team owner Tony Stewart has been fined $10,000 and Tony Stewart Racing has been placed on probation for the balance of the 2008 USAC racing season following an incident on pit road during Thursday night’s USAC National Midget race at O’Reilly Raceway Park (ORP) in Indianapolis".http://www.usacracing.com/sprint_index/news_s/388.html

OK I will give you that one, allthough he did kind of buy his way out of it.

Back in 53 I was only 22 yr.old kid.competed in the 1st. race at the Atomic Raceway in Chillacothe.I have watched USAC screw things up for to many years.I have a grandson that has a few USAC championships,so I am not a newcomer to this show.

jones did wheel slap Gardner true. now is Gardner's front-end collapses he out of the race over a racing incident. i seen the video. if you're trying to grow the sport how can you justifiy allowing a driver to take that action without DQ'ing him. i don't care if its a high dollar team or a weekend warrior.

if i'm the director of competition, promotor or a car owner i wouldn't put up with it.

He paid what was probably the biggest fine ever handed out in USAC history, and if you want to call that buying his way out, fine... Back in 53 it was still AAA, and I was 5.. LOL

I'm not condoning it, and I did say I was surprised they gave him points for that night since he was black flagged. Actually I don't know for sure if he was awarded those points or not, but I did read he was scored as 20th.

Are you kidding me? If you were the promoter, you'd have wished they left him out there!
