Kyle Larson's progress from 14th to 6th against this kind of competition on a track new to him in a car new to him is worthy of notice. SoCal / wingless fans may not know that Larson (still in his teens) is the 2010 "King of California" in 410 winged sprints having won more races (and earning more points) than anyone named Kaeding this year. Larson is, however, strongly supported by the Kaedings and is a sort of "team driver" with them. Interesting to see him in Glenn's car even though he has a 410 car of his "own" (the black #99).

Kyle Larson is impressive in everything he straps into! He has been a champion in Outlaw Karts in Northern California since the age of 6 and has more laps around dirt tracks in his career than some drivers that are much older than him competing this weekend.

No surprise to me that he would be fast right out of the box in Glenn Crossno's #38 Viper by iTi Performance. Just look back to the Chili Bowl that started the year, where he put a Bryan Clauson entry into the "A" Main event against the best midget drivers in the world, and won the "A" Main for the micro midgets! He also earned respect back in Indy this summer driving for Cactus Jack Yeley at a few select shows. Last year, he competed in the USAC-CRA Louie Vermiel Classic at Calistoga, and had a great run going in his first non-wing sprint car outing until a misfortunate accident sidelined him.

The #99 410 winged sprint car that Kyle drove to the "King of California" title in the Golden State Challenge series is owned and maintained by Brent Kaeding & Kaeding Performance Center, and is primarily sponsored by Rich Stadelhofer of Stadelhofer Construction. The family does not own a sprint car, yet because of his talent behind the wheel, he's gained a ton of help from his fans and supporters.

I was hoping to see more of Kyle next weekend at the Pacific Coast Nationals at a track that Kyle has run very successfully at this year in Tulare, California, yet instead prior committments to the El Paso, Texas’ Casey Minks 75L team will see him racing November 12th & 13th at Southern New
Mexico Speedway in Las Cruces, New Mexico with the 360 winged sprint cars in the ASCS National Series.
