Thanks Hawker! Man that was some damn good racing...slide jobs all over the place! I really like the new 3/8 mile at Tri-City instead of the big flat 1/2 mile...I think Kevin Gundaker made a wise, wise choice!

No need to do that. Just go back in time and keep the old track at lawrenceburg. That was a bad case of fixing something that wasn't broke.

Agreed about this, while the promotor at the burg seems to be working his tail off and promoting the burg i liked the old track better. This new layout has took the lower budget weekly guys out with the big straights and wall all the way around.Seen a lot of great races at the old burg but the fans sure enjoy the nice stands and everything else since they redid it. The best racing in the state is Kokomo for 2-3 wide racing almost every night great track prep and getting the fans home at a decent time. What the O'Conners have done at kokomo is amazing.

My track would be a 1/3 mile(configured betweem Eagle Raceway and I-55 Raceway)...High banked speed plant with slide job availability all over the place. Id host multiple big races such as the World of Outlaws, ASCS series, USAC, as well as a couple big paying late model races...I would race sprint cars(probably 360 engines), a modified class, limited late model, and a pure street class weekly.

I would like to have one like the old State Fair Speedway (Oklahoma City), with a half mile semi-banked track on the outside, 1/4 mile on the inside, with paved pits off of the north end, with a loop road for the cars to go off of. Big concrete and steel grandstand on the west side of the track big enough to hold 15-20k. I would also like to have Musco lighting all around, and a dirt that is similar to Thunderbird Speedway in Muskogee.

And you'd lose all the money you had and what you could borrow!! Those big races cost SO much that you'd haveta put 8000 or more butts in the seats for the cheaper ones.
And skip the late models, they blow goats.

If I was to build a track it would be a 1/3 high banked WIDE place just like Eagle. It would be easy to prepare I think-------and that saves $$$$.

Seriously, how often do you see the entire stands full of fans give a standing ovation for a heat race? That video from Eagle was a damn fine race. That looks like a good track to clone, but make sure you get the same material for clay or something similar that will survive in your part of the world weather wise. Perris is a great track for non-wingers...

I like my local 1/3 mile 12 degree banked turns sticky clay oval, Santa Maria Speedway in California. Natural amphiteater seating fairly close to the ocean just an awesome place to spend my saturday nights. I love it. Seems to be popular amongst the racers I have spoken with.
good usac/cra main action:

neat perspective of the GSC winged 410's:

That looks like a very nice, racey track as well....I like how the camera pans over to turn 2 but there is a tree in the way....lol

Well where the person was filiming is not a spectator area haha. I have seen many a car go right over the fence into those trees and out into the parking lot. A guy that used to work for my familys machine shop went over the fence one night back in the early 80's in his first night running non wing, it ended with him having a broken neck. He recovered just fine but racing was over for him. Midgets at Santa Maria are outstanding. Really wide turns so they can flat mix it up, unfortunately midgets seem to be on a permanent decline...what a shame.

Why not a 1/2 mile, equilateral triangle( think of the thing you use to rack up pool balls.) It's not as crazy as it sounds. 33% longer than a 3/8 mile track, but no long straights, so it wouldn't be a motor track. Also, the corners are shorter, so the cars go through them quicker. Make the track really wide, but make all three corners a different degree of banking. It would put more emphasis on the driver, to be able to run a car that handles good in one corner, OK in one corner, and not so good in the other corner.
