(Las Cruces, New Mexico)-With over 375 wins, the driver known as "The Dude" is no stranger to the fast pace world of Sprint Car racing. Looking to add to that number, Danny Lasoski will be making his way to the Southern New Mexico Speedway on November 12th and 13th to take on the Lucas Oil American Sprint Car Series National Tour.
Already joining an all star cast of Sprint Car greats including Sammy Swindell, Steve and Kraig Kinser, Jason Sides, and Tim Kaeding just to name a few, Lasoski has already proven he knows how to get around the 5/16 clay oval located at the Southern New Mexico State Fairgrounds.
The last time Lasoski paid a visit to Las Cruces was in 2006 with the National Sprint Tour where he tied Kraig Kinser for the fast time of the night at 11.346 seconds. Ending up ninth in the nights A-Main, Lasoski would go on to win the first and only NST Championship before returning to the Outlaws in 2007.
In a race that featured the all out brutal horsepower of an all aluminum 410cid, Lasoski will return with the ASCS 360cid engine under the hood which begs the question; will that have any effect at all on how the Dover, Missouri racing legend drives his car?
"Absolutely, I mean you are looking at 200 less horsepower and another 100lbs heavier." He continued with comparison in that, "With the 410, these fire breathing things we run with 900 horsepower; you can go in and literally move the throttle just a little bit and make the car react where with the 360 you just have to hold it down."
It is interesting to note that Lasoski's return to Las Cruces will also be his first of three 360 races for the 2010 season; making things even more interesting for the 2001 WoO Champion. Danny however, is not worried, "there's going to be a learning transition when we first get there but we'll adapt pretty quick; it shouldn't take long to get up to speed."
In his return Lasoski will be running his own equipment. With that in mind and looking at the drivers that he will be facing in Las Cruces, he was quick to point out, "you will have the best of the best there in a 360"
He continued with that idea in regards to drivers like Sammy Swindell, Steve Kinser, and Jason Sides coming from the world of 410 Sprint Cars versus ASCS regulars like, Tony Bruce Jr., Jason Johnson, Gary Wright, and Tim Crawley and how the ASCS 360 will even up the playing field. "Everyone is in the same boat." Danny said. "With this engine setup it all comes down to set up and who can dial the car in the best."
More than anything, the 8 time Knoxville Raceway Champion is looking to have fun. "I'm just excited to come down and am looking for a good slick track to race on."
Nov. 12th and 13th, gates to the grandstands will open at 5:30pm with racing getting underway at 7:45pm.
The Lucas Oil ASCS National Tour will be joined by the UMP DIRTcar West Modifieds both nights.
