FT: Tony Jones; 2nd fast Rickie Gaunt
A Main: Scotty Wier, Mike Spencer, Blake Miller, Rip Williams, Johnny Rodriquez
Rough night for Tony, who went end over on the back straight in his heat and crushed the front -and- back ends. #4 rebuilt (with major help from the Ballard crew) for the B Main with coil-overs took second place, so he didn't have to go to the back in the A on a provisional. Tony said the flip reinjured his back, after hurting it at work two weeks ago, but he drove his "beater" to 7th or 8th from a 9th place start. (He laid on the back of the emergency truck for quite awhile before he walked back down to the pits.)
Wier led every lap but was passed several times by Spencer in turn 4, repassing Mike before they got back to the line in each case. Very good racing after lap 25 on a very dry track.
