Pumpkin Cup Goes Open Wheel Trick or Treating

The second annual Pumpkin Cup has turned into an open wheel festival for the 2010 running at the Chowchilla Speedway on October 29^th and 30^th.

In addition to the open wheel racing action, Saturday night the 30^th will feature a Halloween costume contest, a hayride around the race track and a trick or treat for the kids through the pits! If that is not enough Saturday night will also features a destruction derby in a pit filled with pumpkins! We don't stop there, we will also have a stunt man that will drive a car and hit a ramp at high speed to roll and crash into a pile of pumpkins!

On the racing side of the Pumpkin Cup, Friday night the 29^th features night one of the Open Spec Sprint car races. There is also an open practice session scheduled on Friday night for the other classes that will race Saturday night.

Saturday night the 30^th things really get cranked up as the winged 360 sprint cars arrive, as well as the BCRA Midgets, the BCRA Winged Midget Lites, the Sport Mods and Valley Sportsman. Saturday night is round two for the Open Spec Sprint Championship Shootout, and this is the night one driver will earn the title of King of the Open Spec Sprints.

Pit gates open Friday night at 5:00pm with racing action starting at 7:00pm. Grandstands open at 6:00pm on Friday night, adult tickets are just $10, juniors are $5 and kids five and under are free!

Saturday pit gates open at 3:00pm with racing action starting at 5:00pm. Grandstands open at 4:00pm on Saturday night, adult tickets are $15, juniors are $7 and kids five and under get in for free!

The costume contest and hayride will happen around 7:00pm on Saturday night. For more information go to www.racechowchilla.com.

Winged 360 purse, Open Spec Sprint Purse, and the Sport Mods are on this page at the bottom. The BCRA Midgets are paid by that travel series.

Entry Fees;

360 Winged Sprints (October 30th only) / $80 for car and driver for Saturday

Open Spec Sprints (October 29th and 30th) / $70 for car and driver per day

Rules;

Winged injected Sprints / Engines are a 360 cubic inch MAX, cast iron engine with aluminum heads. Injecters, one nozzle per cylinder, no down nozzles, no injection nozzles drilled directly into head and no computerized injection. Fuel, no nitro or NOS allowed. Weight, 1525 with driver at anytime. Cars running the ASCS cylinder heads must weigh 1450 at anytime.

Open Spec Sprints (non winged) -

Weight 1650lbs at anytime. Holley #4412 Series 500 cfm 2bbl carburetor. Choke tower may be removed. Fuel Booster Venturi may be opened .010 over catalog specs.

Throttle bore, Butterfly shafts, Main Venturi and Throttle plates must be stock. Track Go-No Go gauge will monitor carburetor specifications. Any Tire, any engine 368 cubic inches or less (block must be cast iron), starter optional.

Must be sprint car chassis.

All Crew members are $40 each, all pit passes are $40 each. You must be at least 42" tall to enter the pit area.

All Teams, please bring candy for the Trick Or Treat we are doing for the kids through the pit area. This is a big deal for the kids.

Friday Practice, all classes other than Spec Sprints will have two/three practice sessions in the middle of the show Friday night, pit passes are $30 each for the practice. We will use a differant colored wrist band for this practice.

Winged 360 Sprints run Saturday night October 30^th only, Open Spec Sprints run both Friday and Saturday night with two purses and a point fund for the top three of the two nights.
