I deleted it. I know, my reasoning was selfish and just plain wrong but I did it anyways. So fire me from moderating my board.
I do a lot of media work. I don't pull the camper out and tailgate, I don't sit in the stands with my son and drink a cold one, I work to promote the sport. Most of the past fourteen years that has been done at my own expense. If the guy wants to do piggyback on fourteen years of work to promote his business he can sponsor my websites.
Nothing personal between him and I.

Bravo! A moderator who actually moderates and polices his board! Good for you, Stan!
I'd have less of a problem with ProjectX if they'd spend a few bucks and buy a banner ad, rather than piggyback on free message boards everywhere!

I understand all of your positions but.....
How many races did you pay your hard earned money to attend?

Not to start a pi__ing match here, but the fact that Stan flashes credentials to get access to a facility, only gets him in the gate ... I am not sure if you have noticed all that he does, but when everybody else is headed home, back to 'their stuff', his time is just beginning ... take a look around the site you are on, click on ALL the links ... those pics you are looking at, the interviews you are listening to, the race recaps you have access to, dont just happen by themselves ... and, not to mention, these guys/gals that are just 'slippin' thru the gates with a smile, to save 'their harned earned money', are greatly appreciated by some of us for all the miles, effort, and hours they put into what they do. They do it because they LOVE IT, and make very little in return, if anything at all, most of the time ... I for one do not have the ability to travel as I would like, and they happen to allow some of us the opportunity to keep abreast of what is happening, that we wouldn't otherwise have.
Not to mention, when you have paid for and own the sandbox, you have earned the right to determine what toys others bring into it ... and with the potential controversies that could possibly emminate from the ad that was removed, perhaps even having a reflection on him, or his site by letting it remain ... I for one think Stan made a good choice under the circumstances ... JMHO ... tom

No problem, I'd gladly pay to get into the races but if I do my routine will change. I'd shut down my racing websites and stop writing for a racing paper and magazine. I'd stop submitting photos to a half dozen racing publications and I wouldn't have to spend two hours on the computer editing photos, writing captions and sending to the publications after every race. The 6-8 hours I have spent the last twelve years on each of my columns would no longer be necessary. I could cut my schedule down to a half dozen of my favorite races because there would no longer an obligation to attend 30-40 shows if I'm not writing anymore. I could get rid of our second car because if the wife needs the car to attend a birth on a race night I'd just skip that race and stay home no matter how big of an "event" it was in the eyes of the racing fans.
Instead of spending six hours on my feet working I'd pull the camper out to the track, tailgate before the races, sit in the stands with a cold one and sit around the fire after the races. No deadlines, no reason to rush home and do anything, sounds good to me. Maybe I'd even get to spend some time with my wife, kids and grandkids. With the exception of my son none of them like the races so I miss a lot of family activities during the summer. I'll be turning 60 next season and the grind of doing this is wearing me down so that's all sounding very inviting. Come to think of it, my wife and I haven't done any traveling since I've been doing this and she'd love to take a "real vacation" that doesn't include any racing.
What's a pit pass cost, $25, $30? I think the tracks are getting their money's worth out of me. How much of my time do I have to donate to this sport to earn your respect? Check out my column in the latest issue of the Midwest Racing Connection where I wrote about this issue:

Hi Stan, I understand why you deleted the thread! If I was in your shoes I would have done the same thing. I was merely being a smart ass when I posted back to there post. These guys have been on here a few times and I just wanted them to post some examples of whom they have helped out in our area, of which they have NOT done. Hell if you give me your $money$ I will go out and try to find you a sponsorship!

Look around at some of the webmasters who started out with a half dozen photos they dug out of a shoebox when I did back around 1997 and the names are pretty well know. Hoseheads and TJ Slideways are a couple. They made a business out if it and took on sponsorship, I've got a day job so I kept it low profile. When things don't work out for me anymore then I'll know that it's time to quit.
No regrets, I've had some fun along the way.

I know a lot of people do appreciate it but the detractors still get me riled up.
