I'm looking for some achieves on the National Speedways Contest Association, from back in the early to mid 80's. The ran Missouri, Kansas, Nebraska, Iowa, Minnesota, and the Dakota's.

Are you referring to the Nebraska Sprint Car Association, NSCA?

That's interesting you mention that organization. I have never run across any old online programs, pictures, etc of NSCA promoted races myself. It was mostly run/announced by Dave Van Patten out of Des Moines, Iowa, although that doesn't really help you any in regards to actual information or pictures. NSCA took over in a fashion of some of the tracks that the old time IMCA sanctioned races run at,most of them being county fair tracks,Eldon,IA, Lincoln,NE, Knoxville,IL,throughout the Midwest , Iowa State Fair grounds and such. I did see lots of good racing through this organization back in the day.

A group called NCRA ran in the midwest only from Texas to Canada in the 80s. Berryhill and Gary Wright were among the travelers. Don't believe they are related in any way to today's NCRA series.
Lawlessness and liberalism equals Hell. NY City,
Detroit, Seattle, Chicago, Minnepolis, etc. We saw it.
Burning hundreds of buildings, a thousand assaults and
dozens of murders. Getting worser and worser.

It was called "National Speedways Contest Assoc." I believe. Yes, Dave VanPatten from Des Moines was the promoter/announcer.
The did indeed run many of the former IMCA tracks and fair dates.
I'm terrible about details like dates and stuff, but I attended many of their shows. Sedalia, Mo, Spencer Ia, Oskaloosa Ia, Eldon Ia added to the tracks listed in above post. I know there were many more. I saw Al Unser Jr. win an NSCA race at Osky.
As I recall, they usually had good car counts because Van Patten made sure everyone went home with some money, AND, he was all about having fun! The guy was a real HOOT on the mic! One of the real PROMOTERS/SHOWMEN in the business.
The Missouri Sprint Nationals at Sedalia was a huge race for them. Drew big fields from all over. The hog roast/party after the races was legendary! It was held in late July and was the first chance to see the incoming traverlers coming in for the Knox. Nats.
When everyone was going to wings, NSCA mandated a 20 sq ft top wing rule.
There were still daytime races at many of the fairs which I really miss. That was cool.
Anyone who remember any of this needs to stand up RIGHT ABOUT NOW, and "PAY HOMAGE"! LOL!!

I took photos at many sprint and late model NSCA shows back in the 70s and early 80s.
I saw openwheeltimes only shows just two NSCA sanctioned results, but most of the county fair races back then were sanctioned by NSCA.
I remember Van Pattan and Robert Lawton in their light yellow uniforms.

It's the same group, only they don't run 410s anymore. The group started as a Supermodified club in I believe 1971.

If you go to either the National Sprint Car Hall of Fame or Speedway Motors website, they have a book titled, Big Car Thunder, Volume II, which has an entire chapter on the National Speedways Contest Assocation. Pretty much covers everything you are looking for.

Also, in Big Car Thunder Volume I, there is a chapter on the NCRA dirt cars.

I've been looking for NSCA archives myself and have had an equally hard time finding info. Hawkeye Racing News does provide some coverage in both the sprints and late model series but it's hit and miss...
Good Luck,

I have the full Late Model results from Alan Brown's old Late Model Annuals. But he didn't start the Sprint Car Annual until 1985, and NSCA was gone by then.
