I'm planning to race at the Tulsa Shootout this year, in the no-wing 1200 Mini Sprint class. But I've never been to Tulsa, neither the Shootout nor the Chili Bowl.

Where's the best place to stay?.. eat?..drink?.. party? Any advise would be greatly appreciated.

I think the Caravan bar (actual name is Caravan Cattle company) at 41st and Memorial is the place to party now. Went there on Thurs. night during the Bowl and it was totally packed. Several drivers and lots of fans hanging out there that night.

Several places to eat and stay in Tulsa. I tried Albert G's BBQ http://www.albertgs.com last go around. Wasn't all that cheap but was real good. Ike's chili house makes great chili and has been in business for just over 100 years. Someone usually starts a thread here right before the Bowl asking about places to eat. Whatever your fancy, Tulsa prolly has it.

As for lodging if your looking for something more economical, the Days Inn and La Quinta Inn across from the airport are pretty good places to stay. The Elephant Run (Best Western Trade Winds Central) usually gets booked up pretty quick.

Have fun on your first trip. It won't be your last.Smile
