I was told by a person from Tucson that a decision was finally made about Tucson Raceway Park and the track will be all dirt. There will be NO PAVEMENT under the dirt. The pavement removal will began very soon now. I saw the track the last year it was dirt and the first year it was paved in the early 1990s. I hope TRP and that other dirt track can co-exist for the next 30 years.

Hmmmmmm !!!!! dosen't look like any one cares about this situation other than me.....Well you will care when you realize this is a NO win situation for dirt track racing in Tucson.....Believe me I have seen 2 dirt tracks seperated alot farther than these 2 compete for fans and cars in other cities and they both end up going out of business. Simply put ....there is just not enough cars and fans to support 2 dirt tracks in the Tucson area (Calif maybe this would work) Ohhh well at least there will still be Canyon ( great show with aprox 28 non wing sprint cars showing up) and Showlow ( 12 sprint cars per sat night) to go to for dirt track racing in AZ.....and also Prescot...also 12 sprint cars average per sat night.

The FOOL who thought that it, in his words "will be good for racing in Tucson" needs a size 14 brogan up his sphincter. They lost the last half of this season....what are the odds of any racing next year at TRP with the current delusional hand on the wheel?

Well said "Scoreboard." This has to be an idiotic decision as there is no way that Tucson is going to support two dirt tracks let alone two race tracks. Perhaps we could start a pool and pick dates for the announcement that one of them has stopped operations?

Lets hope the powers that be do what Victorville and Perris did and don't run dueling sprint car shows. Otherwise it will be the end of sprint car racing.
I loved TRP when it was dirt. I like USA too. Whoever thought up this "brilliant" idea really needs to have his head pulled out of his hiney. This isn't good news.
Has anyone found out who had this brilliant idea so we can bombard this person with emails about how stupid his/her idea is?
RIP Chet and Mark. You might be gone but never will
be forgotten.

Count me in as an idiot then. We had 6 ASCS race weekends at USA/Tucson and 5 at Canyon/Phoenix. That classifies as a average month in many other regions and certainly not too much racing for our 9 month schedule (March through November) I have a bit too much wrapped up in this deal to race that little and it's better than driving 500 miles each way to run. As long as they don't schedule the same classes on the same night, I think it's a great idea.
I suggested to TRP they mirror ASCS rules and run "off" weekends to the ASCS schedule. I think we need 5 more tracks in Arizona, not 1 fewer.

Hi Bruce, I was out at Canyon last Saturday and saw you guy's run, and some of my friends were saying, "Oh, I remember what a sprint car looks like now!" You looked good!
Like Bruce said, their having these guy's running all over the place, including Perri's, but not that often... Now as far the winged guy's go who were running with 12 cars up in Show Low. They had built up a very good car count and fan base at USA, but as ASCS doe's, they needed to expand (like Walmart), and run at more tracks. More than a few of those guy's showed how there starting to feel about that deal by the car count at Thunder Raceway. I know that Kevin can come up with a million answers to as why and such, but the bottom line is these guy's are looking for a home, and for sure, more races!
I think a semi weekly show, especially winged sprinters in Tucson ( I think there are a lot of Pennsylvania transplants there or something LOL) would go over well, and maybe the non wing guy's too.
This is a edit... I know ASCS thinks the last shovel of dirt was thrown on the grave of the original 360 series here in AZ, the ASCA; but who knows, with a new track there could be a resurrection.
