Looks like there will be no more Chili Bowl. Tulsa city council voted to annex the fairgrounds to the city. Mayor Kathy Taylor has till May 14th to veto the annex. If she don't veto it the city will take over and the city said they could not run because of the city sound ordinance.

The Chili Bowl will go on annexation or not, don't sweat it.

Hmm, does the city council want a piece of the action?

sooner7nc is correct. The Chili Bowl is safe and was never an issue. Sounds like someone just wants to start some crap. The annexation is not a done deal yet, the Mayor can veto it and I hope she does. I've yet to figure out what was broken that needed annexation to fix. Gee, I wonder if it could be the additional taxes?

The additional tax money could go to improvements like EAR PLUGS FOR ALL THE IDIOTS WHO RAN OFF THE OLD SATURDAY NIGHT SHOW! I know of two reasons to go Tulsa, Zink Ranch[if I could get in], and THE CHILI BOWL! Oklahoma is incredibly lucky to have that show. I know, I live here.

If the sound ordinance can shut down the Chili Bowl, it will also shut down the Tulsa State Fair. I'm not buying it.
And while we are inforcing the sound ordinance, how about the police ticketing these little puncks with their loud, so called "music". Turn down the B.S., put your hat on right and pull up your pants!

Stubb winning the bean bag tourny next year? Now we all know it's fixed. I got a better idea for your winnings than bingo........go to one of the too many Casinos in Tulsa, preferably the Cherokee Casino where they don't have a height requirement.

Even if they did have the requirement, Stubb could still crawl under the gap at the bottom of the door.
Wait, your Union built the joint, so I guess there is NO gap on the bottom of the door lol

What would shutting down the Chili Bowl accomplish? Make about 200 residents happy and piss off 500 business owners and 10,000 people who pump $???,???,??? into the local economy?

Actually Duane, my Union didn't build the place. Like most construction these days, Union contractors played a very small role with the Casinos construction. However the main structure (Steel) was erected by a Local Iron Workers Union contractor and most of the steel was domestic. The entry doors are foreign made and installed by a nonunion contractor, therefore there is plenty of room for Stubb to crawl under, over or around. Once inside he will be ok. They even have urinals in the restrooms for undersized guest.

Doesn't make much sense to put kiddy urinals inside an establishment that you must be at least 21 to enter does it? The contractors must have heard that those "midget people" that populate the Expo in early Jan like to spend their Christmas money in casino's.

Stubb - you're so cool
Now back to the Chili Bowl. It is the second largest money maker for the City of Tulsa. They have put a lot of money into the Expo Center just for the Chili Bowl. I can't see them ever running off our races in January. And, as I understand it - the City gets all of the profit from the concessions... so that just adds to all of the motels, rental cars, restaurants and of course the Casinos. Gas stations and liquor stores also gain a lot of money from this bunch. I never worry about the Chili Bowl being anywhere else.
