So Steve Vague had a pinion that got pitted really bad in like 2 races,
running the same oil as the last 10 years same amount and everything,
pinion went back to Winters for warranty and they have decided not to
warranty it so now he gets to pay $600 (+) for a piece of crap product,
which the new one we put in after that one pitted, it also has pitted so
now we have 2 garbage pinions and no recourse for having them replaced.
Apparently Mark Huson has one with very little races on it that has
done the same thing, his won't be warrantied either. So what do we do?
don't buy anything else from Winters, but they don't care to lose a
customer cus they have plenty. What I am hearing has happened is they
found out DMI was getting their ring and pinions from the same place
Winters was, Winters wasn't happy about it so they went to a new
provider (probably china) and since then now we are getting faulty
product and they want to blame it on getting the rearend too hot? How
does that happen when nothing has changed, same oil, same oil level,
only thing changed is the Winters Product Manufacturer? Hmmm?

DMI is having the same problem with the pinion too, regardless of what they tell you...

Get a Frankland. I've had excellent luck with them. Hold the nose bearing better. They've always been good to me.

I like the Franklin better, caliper bosses are true and dont seem to back up the bolts as frequently (without locking clamp) , tech support and parts dept are great, shifter assembly doesnt leak , (I never understood winters location) ,, besides every time the wife steps into the shop, she says "I like your purple rearend" , I take whatever I can get ?? lol, good luck! , take care! ..
