Sympathies and prayers to the Hirst family. Joe was here in the spring and had a great visit with him. Many, many fun times we had and will never be forgotten. What a great friend, you were.
RIP Joe

I was never more than a fan in the stands, but, Joe was a hero of mine growing up as a kid around West Capital. I can still see that Dura-Bilt Supermodified ripping around that oval in my memories. Sad to hear the news. Thanks for the memories and rest in peace Joe.

Sad news . . . . .
When my kids were little, we'd go to West Capital and the kids were always rooting for Joe.
You see, my wife's name is Joanne Hill, and I most generally called he Jo! So Joe Hill had a very
familiar ring to it!
I related that story to Joe one time and he got a kick out of it. He was always a great guy to visit about
the old days with!

When my friend went Super Modified racing in the early 80s, the first car he purchased was from Mike McCann. It was the orange number 46 that had been piloted by Joe Hill. I always thought it was cool we were running a car he had driven.
RIP Joe.
