How is the racing at I-80 Speedway? Thinking about going down Friday for the ASCS race. I typically go to Husets and I-90 speedway so I'm used to pretty fast, wide open racing. Never been to I-80 so I wanted to see how the racing was there.

It is definately a fast wide open track. Most of the time it will dry out just enough to get a low grove right against the wall and a high grove up close to the wall. The weather is going to be perfect (80 and sunny) so the rain will not ruin anything....you should know that it is the Cornhusker Classic and will have 7 classes of cars racing that night....they start at 7:00.

Ok sounds good. Hopefully they do a better job of prepping the track than Husets last night. I live about 4 and a half hours away so I guess I will have to decide if I want to drive down there.

Too many classes of taxis so there will be a short crowd. I know I won't sit through bmods like I did at Husets. Too many support classes ruin a good sprint show.
Still love husets

Agreed. Hopefully the track will hold up with all those classes. Mentioning Husets, I get so tired of sitting through those 12 lap races that take way longer than a 25 lap 410 race. Also, I was thinking about just camping there for the night, is there usually enough room there?

I believe that the support classes will all run heat races and that is all while the ASCS sprint cars will run a complete show. I'll check in this tomorrow and post hear what I find out.

Why would there be a short crowd? Believe it or not, but there are a lot of racing fans that will watch more than just sprint cars. Not everyone is as closed minded as you are.

Confirmed by the I-80 office that all classes will be running heat races only on Friday Night. The ASCS Sprints will run a full program. Fortunately, that shouldn't be that long of a night.

I-80 is an AWESOME track to see racing on. Straights have a good length to them and the turns have plenty of room for slide jobs and other maneuvering. Great view of the track from the stands too. The chairs with the hi-backs on them make for a more comfortable night. If you haven't been to I-80, GO! You wont be disappointed.
