TEXAS MOTOR SPEEDWAY DIRT TRACK TO PLAY HOST TO TWO MAJOR CHAMPIONSHIPS IN 2011 ONCE AGAIN

FORT WORTH, Texas (September 17, 2010) – After witnessing impressive car counts for two major dirt track events this year, Texas Motor Speedway officials announced Friday that both the Texas World Dirt Track Championships and U.S. National Dirt Track Championship will return to the Texas Motor Speedway Dirt Track in 2011.

The Texas World Dirt Track Championships is scheduled for March 3-5, while the U.S. National Dirt Track Championship will be held September 15-17. Both events feature O’Reilly Auto Parts SUPR (Southern United Professional Racing) Late Model, Modified and Limited Modified divisions and are considered among the largest and most prestigious dirt track championships in the nation.

This year’s Texas World Dirt Track Championships attracted more than 300 entries for the late February event and this weekend’s U.S. National Dirt Track Championship is expecting an equally large car count. The event had a strong turnout for practice Thursday evening as more than 175 Modified, Limited Modified and Late Model entries were on hand in preparation for this evening’s opening night of competition.

“We’ve gotten incredible feedback from the competitors that they want two opportunities to compete at a world-class dirt track facility like we have here and their response to both events this year is a testament to that fact,” Texas Motor Speedway Assistant General Manager/Vice President of Events Kenton Nelson said. “The energy and excitement you see and feel from the drivers in the pits is incredible. To hear them compare these races to the Daytona 500 and Super Bowl of dirt track races gets me excited for them.”

The U.S. National Dirt Track Championship action gets under way tonight with heat races and “B” and “C” qualifiers for the Modified and Limited Modified divisions. Racing continues Saturday with additional Modified and Limited Modified qualifying races, O’Reilly Auto Parts SUPR Late Model heats, the Modified Pole Dash, the Limited Modified Pole Dash and championship races in all three series.

Texas Motor Speedway is offering special admission pricing for this event by charging by the carload rather than individually. Carload admission will be $10 on Friday and $15 on Saturday.
