The sprint cars of the Northern Outlaw Sprint Association is a group of about 23 winged-sprints that race thru out a multi-state area, some venture farther out, like Knoxville and Eagle. 39 year-old Wade Nygaard, of Fargo, winner of over 240 A-main features was driving an ATV in Minot, ND in the early morning hours last Sunday after a Sat race. 23 year old Tyler Fedyk was riding on behind. The ATV flipped, the 23 year old Fedyk was seriously injured and taken to a Minot hospital where he was pronounced dead. Alcohol was involved--DUI was charged. The Fedyk family of Estevan, Saskatchewan (Kyle and Kohlan) often pull their transporter down to Grand Forks to race with the NOSA group on Friday nights and imagine they also run with them at the Winnipeg, Manitoba track. Tyler was a crewman for his brothers Kholan and Kyle. Keep both families in your prayers.

This is the first I hear of this. Another tragedy in the sprint car world. Unfortunately alcohol can make good people do stupid things sometimes. All the best to the families involved.

Actually: "Wade Nygaard was charged with DUI".

Possibly a manslaughter charge, not sure, think its a state by state deal on manslaughter, not sure what is manslaughter and what is not. If alcohol was involved my so so guess is manslaughter. I'm sure everyone is thinking civil suit too, what with the tons of "slip and fall" asshole lawyers speed dialing the Fedyk family home.

Adding $6 trillion of debt in his 1st term and now if
elected again he wouldn't have to worry about an
electorate in 2016 so the sky is the limit. And his EPA
would continue to put the screws to oil drilling and
mining for coal. Can you say bankruptcy.

Such an unfortuneate deal. I got a text from a buddy in Canada on Monday night about this and wondered how long it would take until it showed up here.

Thoughts and prayers...

If the state recognizes the crime of criminally negligent homicide, then it will probably be that, otherwise probably an involuntary manslaughter charge. Involuntarily Manslaughter usually occurs when one's reckless acts results in one's death. Voluntary manslaughter occurs when someone inttentionally kills someone under the heat of passion (ex: you walk in on your wife in bed with another man, freak out and immediately kill the guy). If the state recognizes criminally negligent homicide, that is a similar, but lesser offense than manslaughter, requiring only negligence and not recklessness. By the way, lawyers are not allowed to solicit potential clients over the phone, with the exception of if they have a personal relationship with the person, or the person is a former client, so I doubt anyone is "speed dialing" the Fedyk family.

Bad deal. The NOSA guys are probably some of the nicest and most helpful to each other that you will ever find. That's why they were together so late. They like to hang out together after the races and have a good time together. They truly are a family. Wade is one of the most like guys in the group and will do anything to help anyone else out. I'm sure he feels terrible and will have to live with that the rest of his life. Tyler is actually a cousin of the Fedyk's, not their brother. He has pitted for them for quite some time and Tyler is a fixture in the pits and a guy everyone liked. I hope manslaughter charges do not happen. I don't think the Fedyk's will expect that. Maybe the State will though, not sure. It was a horrible accident, and nothing can bring Tyler back. But, like I said, they are a great family and will support each other.

The speed dialing was my obvious reference to how disgusted I am toward "slip and fall" lawyers. They are flooding the tv airways with their "have you ever sat under a farmers tree and an apple hit you in the head, if so, please contact us and we will both get rich". etc. Commercial after commercial after commercial.

My friend (former friend) was drunk after a WoO race. He stepped outside barefooted to have a cigarette even though I told him people smoke in our house, he stepped back in and missed the rug and slipped on the floor--he claims. Next day he woke up and told us about it. He wasn't hurt at all, just a golddigger. Got my home owners insurance company name from someone, contacted several lawyers and none would take the case. He went to a chriopractor a few times, tried to get me to pay the deductible, told him to go to hell, end of story. He's perfectly fine now, and always was.

If criminal charges are filed, it will be a decision of the state, not the Fedyks.
