Was plannin on going each night after work until I saw ticket prices this year. Don't get me wrong I know its usually pretty steep but $100 for my ole lady and me just to plant our asses in the stands, throw in a beer or two plus a couple hot dogs and Im easily out $150 for three hours of racing. Go all three nights and thats close to $500. Thats just outragouse to me in this day....but....I guess theyll keep raising the price as long as the place fills up, which it does.

Gold Cup is a goldmine for the promoters. $40 for the prelim races is a little absurd since they're paying less than 10k to win. $50 for the main event I can live with since it's a small track with limited seats, but the prelim is a bit of a ripoff for the purse they're paying.

Hey only $80 for all 3 night of the Oval Nationals at Perris in November compared to $130 for Gold Cup.
When I go to races, the real expense is gas money, lodgeing and food. $40 for woo at Gold Cup a night sounds reasonable.
If I didn't have to pay for lodgeing and gas, I would go in a heart beat. But alas I can not afford $1 K for the weekend.

Gold Cup pays $50k to win and the Ovals pay $12,500. Maybe some of the extra $$ for tickets goes into the purse.

Exactly what I was thinking, the purse for the Ovals is only 65 to 75 thousand for the entire 3 nights of racing.

The Ovals payout is less because they don't have to buy those "wings" for their cars.

Heck I'd be more than happy to spend an extra 1k for wings to win an extra 37.5k any day!(lol)

Just because they pay more, and the fans pay more, it doesn't mean the racing is any better. However, I hear the racing is pretty awesome for the Gold Cup.
CRA91-your motor bill to get the extra 37.5 gonna cost you more than just the 1K in wings and I bet Kinser, Swindell, Shotz, Kaeding would give you a run for your money in the feature for $50K.
The trophy cup pays really well (especially for a 360 race). IMHO it has to be the best format in racing. Plus the proceeds go to Make A Wish Foundation. Tulare is a very friendly track and they feed you if you buy tickets for Friday and Saturday
Are'nt we lucky to have all this great racing in California especially when they are shutting down for the year back East, if only I had enough time and money to go to all of them.

Tulare is a great track which I agree is way more fan friendly than Chico. Also you don't need a face shield and respirator to watch the race like you do in Chico.

I have seen races at Tulare...oh wait...I didn't see them because of the dust problem.
I have yet to go to any track from Ohio to Wa. that didn't have, at some point in time, a dust problem.
Yes, even Skagit and Elma!

My biased personal favorite is Santa Maria Speedway but Tulare is in my opinion AWESOME. The Trophy Cup at Tulare is the best value in sprint car racing entertainment I have yet to witness. Tulare is great for cost, seating, camping, atmosphere and most of all racing quality.
I do not like getting nailed in the face with the chunks of mud and rocks at Chico so I no longer will sit anywhere but the top rows when attending the races there. Perris is a top notch facility too but its concessions are pretty highly priced and being in LA its not too fun driving there.

the sprint cars for me!"
