Last week's (Saturday, August 28, 2010) 360 Main Event winner at Knoxville, Jon Agan, received a fair amount of criticism on this board last week for his subsequent comments in victory lane, including from me.
Well, last night Agan won the Knoxville 360 Main Event again and took the opportunity to make a public apology in his victory lane interview.
He was very gracious in his comments regarding the fans, track preparation, his crew, and etc. He also apologized for his choice of words a week ago. This apology seemed very sincere, and the same fans I was sitting to last week seemed to feel this apology was a sincere one as well. I wish I could quote Jon exactly, but my memory is not that good, and I don't want to do him any injustice. He did state that he hoped he "hadn't burned too many bridges," following that 8/28 interview, however.
I would like to be one of the first to publicly tell Jon, apology accepted. I sincerely hope you are back at Knoxville again next year.
(PS, I wouldn't know Jon if I met him face to face without his uniform on and I have never even spoken to him in the pits. I just think it takes a real man to apologize for something and I would like to think that he was even more motivated than usual to get to victory lane so he would have the opportunity to make this apology.)
