The Budweiser decal is more puzzling to me. They were running in Bud's home State, would that have had something to do with it, or was Bud involved long before we thought? Was this a day show by chance? Take It Easy....

Note the "crown" graphic adorning the "S" of his name. Obviously referencing his 1981 WoO championship, and here, on his way to his '82 championship season.
Go Sammy!!!!

Back then, whoever won the WoO championship was referred to as "The King of the Outlaws" the following year.

The weekend of the May USAC / WoO double bill at The Illinois Mile, Uncle Ted announced Budweiser had signed on as the presenting sponsor of the WoO in 1982.
