Not usually one to get involved here but had to mention Saturday night among the carnage on the race track did anyone else in the stands notice the two guys that where in section I about row 6 and had to be the only ones in the entire stands cheering for it. They where both jumping up and down and cheering that Brian Brown had crashed on the first lap when Seth Brahmer got spun sideways when his side panel of his wing came off it was yet another big crash of a very strange and exspensive night for alot of teams. They where Don Droud fans and though we all understand rivalries it just shows no class when your cheering for someone crashing, they continued ranting while teams where trying to put there cars back together. I remember being a time when i went to the races with our group me and my cousins where to young to know the dangers of racing we just thought wrecks where cool. Its only later when you grow up and become friends with the drivers and owners you realize how bad a crash is to the wallet and to there health. From my side I really wanted to see Gilly win a season championship this year its the only car that is a throwback to when i first started goin to the races and hes a nice guy. But damn he needs to fire two of his drivers fans

I didn't see this, but there are unfortunately always going to be some of these people in the stands.
At the same time, however, I think you would have been as proud of my 4 year old grandson as I was if you had seen his reaction to all the wrecks.
This was his first trip to a sprint car race with his Grandpa. He was very concerned when all the different wrecks occurred and immediately started asking me if everybody was okay.
As soon as the announcer announced that all the drivers were out of their cars and were okay, he was immediately on his feet jumping up and down and clapping. He also commented on several occasions that it was too bad that they wrecked their cars. I was so proud of him that at the age of 4 he recognized the potential seriousness of the situation.
Do I wish he hadn't seen all the carnage? Absolutely. But was I proud of his maturity at such a tender age? You bet!
Too bad the 2 spectators in your section haven't reached this stage of maturity yet.

your grandsons proper behavor only comes from correct upbringing, congratulations to you , he will be a well respected young man, I wish I raced there I could give him the full racer treatment, sounds like a few in the crowd could use some advice from a 4 year old ..

Hey thats pretty cool for sure sounds like hes got it at an early age and he could sure teach those guys a lesson or two in bein a good fan. I remember as a kid growing up here in des moines and going with my father and some friends to Lenard McCarls shop, Freddie Kains and of course the famous Trostles shop on the hill where you got to see other drivers as long as catch up on the racing gossip. It didnt take us long to learn that crashes werent cool I guess i should of pointed that out. It was a harsh reality in 1979 and 1982 during the terrible Dawley/Larson crash and Stonekings not long after and one that I will always remember that really had me feeling bad was the crash of Gary Scotts I remember sometime during the 81 season Gary Scott gave me an autograph and talked to me a while and let me sit in his race car that I still have a picture of. Racers I dont think realize what that does for a young fan and to witness that night in 82 it made me not wanna see another crash I was 8 years old when that happened and can remember it like it happend yesterday. But you realize its part of the sport and Saturday night was a testiment of how far the safety equipment has come. Your grandson sounds like a cool cat

This kind of goes along with booing, cursing at, and giving the finger to drivers. My father taught me real quick, the first time I booed a driver, that it was unacceptable. I have since had to pass that on to my son. I know I've read on here that some feel that they paid the admission price and that gives them the right. Maybe so, but I guess they don't realize it also makes them look like a fool.

the driver that one hates is still putting on the show , I dont care if you spent one thousand dollars for a four minute ticket , his time, talent, and HEALTH ! remain on the line , show some respect. without favorites and rivalries there is no show , who would show up to watch one car hotlap for a evening ? , respect thier ambition to compete, regardless
