What nerve do some of you people have in bashing tracks? We do not have many tracks left to bash. To those that say go buy some land and get sponsors to build a track. Sponsors want some type of return of investment on what ever they put in. If you think it is easy ask the owner of Battleground Speedway in Houston. He was talking to the guys on Racinboys at the beginning of the year and said that this track was his retirement. He also told them that he was under the idea that if he ever made money running a track then he was lucky.

I have seen posts on here and have heard people saying this track sucks, the promoter has no idea and etc etc. I am just as guilty as anyone esp in my younger days. However, while I was involved in trying to save the fairgrounds I got a lesson taught to me They are human just like everyone else and they make mistakes.

At least the guys and gals are sticking there neck out and putting on a show for us to goto. They could easily go we are packing our bags and had enough. They are not going to do this b/c they are business men and they like racing just as much as we do.However, if people keep bashing tracks then new race fans will go hea we are not going there b/c I saw this or heard that and that track will go even further down. There are race fans that will not travel distances to go a certain track. Instead of bitching and moaning ask the promoter if there is something you can help with.

I am in no way saying everyone kept their mouths shut and not voice their opinions. However, remember you have eyes that could say yea or na to a track. There is a story out there that one of a possible reasons the fairgrounds got closed was the bitching and moaning.

I think I disagree with everything you posted. Some tracks do suck and the people that run them are in it for the money. If you think different you're lost. The fairgrounds did not close because if complaining. That is funny. It amazes me that people in the stands could always drive better and faster than anyone else and that people that have never driven or owned a race car can be such an authority on every freakin thing about racing.

I never thought that every promoter was not in it for the money not at all. Unfortunately, the good ones get thrown in with the bad as a generalization of all. I never said that the fairgrounds closed b/c of the complaining it did not help the situation though.

I was saying that the bitching and moaning does not help the situation we are faced with. You totally missed the point I was making.

If you think I am someone who sits in the stands all the time then your sadly mistaken.

It dont matter what you do, everyone not gonna be happy with everything!!!! If it not one thing it is another. I have to give it to Mr. ED from enid. I like what he does as far as puttin on a show, but why so many sundays. I understand this past week it was actually on WAIT WAIT A SATURDAY, but as i understand there are more sundays to come. If we have sunday shows can we possibly move them up to a 3 o clock start time (maybe) . He puts on one heck of a show I will give him that. So my point bein it doesnt matter what you do , EVERYONE is not gonna be happy.

You know Dusty if they were moved to a 3 start time I could make more of them. I know everyone is not going to be happy all the time but sometimes it gets very old hearing the same old same old.

You, know as a guy who has been in a race car, and driven a few times, has sit in the stands at a few different tracks , and a guy who has been in the pits of a lot of different tracks, and a guy who is a current track official. I TOTALLY AGREE with you Erich, We need to support the tracks that are around here. I know you cant support every one, cause alot of them run on the same night. But try to go to more than one race a year. Come on out to I-44 on a friday night, give it a shot, then go to lawton, brill or where ever you want to go. We cannot afford to lose another track in Oklahoma. I know i am not perfect, i have been on here bashing officials and other drivers, and after becoming an official, i tell you if you think its easy come on down and give it a shot.

As far as post go, Silver Fox # 14 gets the "uncle a" award. Kenny has been around and knows what is going on.

At the same time I agree that we all need to get on the same page for the betterment and quality of Oklahoma Dirt Car Racing. The Tracks divided deal is not working, nor will it ever work. We spend al-lot of money and hours with our sport and that should not be taken lightly. Things right now are in a transition mode because of the lose of Fairgrounds Speedway, but this does not mean we cannot stop digging for other solutions.

If you are not a competitor, then you will most likely be happy to sit idle and let someone else win. If you are a competitor, you will fight for every inch of Real-estate you can gain on or off the Track.

If you want an "uncle a" statement here it is..........

Get off your asses and help promote Dirt Car Racing, the only thing you have to lose is another track and more of what we all have grown up around. If you just sit on your dead ass and do nothing but piss and moan nothing will get accomplished.

It takes all of us to get something done, the sad part is most of the people doing the bitching are the ones that do not offer there time or service to help make a change. I have busted my butt for al-lot of you and was glad to do it, but it sure enough pisses me of too no end that out of all the people I know and have meet over the years only a handful where there to help.

So next time you want to get on the soap box and complain, maybe you should look in the mirror and ask yourself what did I do to help ?

Erich,

We finally agree on something, you now get an " Atta- Boy " from me, great post. I too think that fans need to help support your favorite race tracks by attending or help promote (word of mouth) the good things about your track. Im not sticking up for the promoters, Im just trying to help them survive so that we can all enjoy the sport we love.
