Larry Rice could have done a better job than any of those guy's, and he was a non-wing guy. Hell, back in the day, Dick Lane did a better job with the jolopies on KTLA channel five in LA. Smile

I cant believe people are actually complaining about the broadcast. I for one am thankful that sprint car racing airs on national tv. Since i wasnt able to attend i am glad i was able to witness one of the most memorable nationals in history. No it wasnt perfect but who cares. You were able to see a great race for FREE!!. Get a grip everyone. If you guys really wanted to see a live broadcast you should have ponied up and purchased knoxvilles live feed...

I was there and saw the broadcast too. Glad to have seen them both. With the broadcast, I saw things I missed seeing it live. Grateful for both.

I thought the coverage and announcing were both good. Of course TV is never going to be as good as being there.

ok I had read all these post before I had watched the recorded show, tried to pretend that I was a person who has not attended most of the nats

1. if I were a casual fan think I would have really enjoyed the history ( I did as an hardcore fan)

2. the boucing rapidly changing camera angles, like all tv does not really represent the speed and danger of the sport

3 the close up stuff of just two cars, like any other sprot with lots of fast changing variables does not capture all the extra and good stuff,

4. Could it better? not sure for a person who is not hardore, they very well might have found it interesting, it totally reminded me of early nascar tape delayed races, so no new mold and a very successful model

all the folks that were not able to attend I would think should have liked it

I thought that the production was great, though the video looked a little "dark" compared to most other programs. Stout has to go, Bobby does a great job, but I would also like to see Rob Klepper get a shot in the booth along side Doty.

the HD video was outstanding. The view looking back from the left front on Kerry Madsen was great as well as the shot they got from turn four when Schatz threw that massive slider on Sammy that looked like he was going to take him out but barely cleared him.

Bobby Gerould is great. If they could have get him, Gary Gerould would be great to have on the broadcast, too. The "voice of the Outlaws" JG was on "vacation" during the Nationals - put him on the broadcast. There is none better today than Johnny Gibson.

I also tried to record it and it also kept telling me the same thing (copyrighted). I also tried to record the Charlotte race in the spring and it also told me that it was copyrighted.

Must be a DVD thing..................I did it old school (VHS) and it recorded just fine. Of course, this was with an old VCR as well.

I was disappointed that they didn't show the Sammy interview that they did when he was walking back to the pit area. The only thing I can guess is that he ripped on Goodyear (with good reason), and they didn't want to upset a sponsor of both the event and the television program. How in the hell do you not show the interview of the guy who had the biggest race of the year all but wrapped up with 3 to go and have a tire end your night prematurely? Political farce!

I agree. To not show an interview with the guy who was having his best nationals in years is just plain ridiculous. Who cares if he did rip the goodyears? Bleep out any foul language and run what was said. This is what bothers me about TV getting involved with our fine sport, the sterilization of the events. We need raw emotion and passion to be able to come through so viewers can see how dedicated and driven these racers are.

On another note, forum poster "sprinter25" was very quick to critize the Golden State Challenge on their new promo for the series because of what he termed a lack of professionalism due to spelling errors on some drivers names. Well the SPEED team is definitely not any better in that department. They spelled Zach Zimmerly's name wrong and they also spelled Erin Crocker as "Erin Cocker". Minor detail? Maybe but this is national fricking TV not an internet video were talking about. I could point out some other errors but I will let the rest of you find them for yourselves. I realize perfection is not going to happen but how do you screw up the name of the only female to make the A-Main at the biggest race of the year?

Brad Doty = A+ (let him talk more and get rid of the unnecessary sidekick. Replace said sidekick with a true sprint car racing professional who knows their stuff and brings real excitement not canned/corny phrases)

Brad is awesome. Nothing like hands on experience and the ability to describe it in terms most can understand. He does a great job at giving enough details without sounding like he's talking to first graders. I also enjoy it when he has time to throw in a story from back in the day. I could live with any partner Brad has had except that older guy a couple years ago who knew absolutely nothing about sprint cars. I felt sorry for Brad to have to endure that. That was sad.
