Was trying to copy and paste the column so I could bump up the font to 14 or so (eyes are not as good as they used to be!) and in the process

of doing so my computer locked up all of a sudden and then shut down in the normal way all by itself ?

Hoping there isn't a bug floating around at your site Eck ???

Was just a weird series of events that caught my attention as my computer is usually pretty reliable ???

When I click on the "still fun" link, the website tries to install "2007 Microsoft Office Add-On" but my browser blocks it. I got MS Office 2010 and IE8 on this machine.

Here is the report on openwheel.com for one of 5 downloaders on the site. I hate this crap. DownloaderRisk Level 1: Very LowPrinter Friendly Page SUMMARY TECHNICAL DETAILS REMOVAL Discovered: August 8, 2001 Updated: March 19, 2010 2:39:03 PM Infection Length: Varies Systems Affected: Windows 98, Windows 95, Windows XP, Windows Me, Windows Vista, Windows NT, Windows 2000 Downloader is a detection name used by Symantec to identify malicious software programs that share the primary functionality of downloading content. The content that is downloaded varies from one example to the next. It may comprise of, but need not be limited to, the following items: Configuration/command information Miscellaneous files Other threats or security risks, such as components related to pay per install operations Misleading Applications Secondary components of, or upgrades to, the existing attack Most downloaders that are encountered will attempt to download content from the Internet rather than the local network. In order to successfully achieve its primary function a downloader must run on a computer that is inadequately protected and connected to a network. An adequately protected computer will either prevent the downloader from running in the first place or prevent unauthorized access to network resources and thereby prevent the attack from being carried out to its conclusion. If a Symantec antivirus product displays a detection alert for this threat, it means the computer is already protected against this threat and the Symantec product will effectively remove this threat from the computer.

I got "site is unsafe, 5 threats". Have Norton too. The second time I opened the link, I didn't get any kind of threat message.

I thought these issues were over. Damn.

Try this: http://www.openwheeltimes.com/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=219&Itemid=1

I haven't seen a warning since April. I use Mozilla and Avast

Probably a matter of "refreshing the browser". It's probably in the history, Google gives it a clean bill of health.

I didn't get any warnings/issues from the site and I have a squeaky clean puter ... running FF here with AVG and Spybot S&D - no warnings from either and they are very picky.

Another excellent column Kevin. And thank you VERY much Scott (src) - your camper (aka The Taj Mahal) was a great replacement/accommodation upgrade after being resurrected and towed into place under the Big Game Tree on the Krohn Kampground after my tent's "indoor pool" incident which resulted from the deluge Sunday night/Monday morning and the gale force winds late Tuesday night that ultimately caused its demise. Plus the Taj's air conditioning was VERY welcome relief from this year's Knoxville sauna-like heat.

I'll consider myself fortunate. I have a Mac and Im pleased with the way it detects good vs. bad. Kev's article was great as usual.

Ditto on that... Even better my Mac and Safari WOULD load the knoxville results page effortlessly on the night of the feature!

..Once you go Mac you'll never go back..... (right Stevie?)..
