Modified- 11 cars Heat Winners- Sweeny, Wolfe

Top Five- Sweeney,Day,Bailey,Goodman and Robbins

Notes- Sweeney and Gates started on the front for the feature. Ten cars took the green for the Feature. Sweeney got out to the early lead. By lap six Sweeney had built up a full straight away lead. Day and Bailey were making there way though the field early on during the feature. Although, Sweeney had a sizable lead early on. The race was for 2nd between Day and Goodman. On the second yellow for a stalled Wolfe modified on lap 14, Wolfe was running in fifth at the time. On the restart Day was pushing Sweeney in the beginning however Sweeney had just to much and came home with the victory.

E-Mods 16 cars Heat Winners-Sweiter,Buntiin, Steve Robinson in Mark's car

Top Five- Steve Robinson,Sweiter,Wiley,Nickel, Chesser

Notes-Norwood and Cummings started on the front for the feature. Norwood got out to the early lead. He had an approx. 3 car lead when the yellow came out on lap two for a spun car. On the restart Norwood jumped back out although Buntin make a pass for the lead coming down the backstretch. On lap 6 another yellow flew for multiple spun cars. On the restart Buntin was in the lead however on lap 8 Robinson passed Buntin on the outside of turn four for the lead. Shortly, after this Norwood slowed and went up in smoke in turn two. Buntin pulled into the infield on lap 11.There was a 3rd restart after a yellow had been thrown for yet another spun car. On the restart it was Sweiter and Robinson going at it. However, Robinson pulled away and never was challenged after that.

Mini Sprint- 6 cars Heat winner- Gilliam Top Five-Rodney Cobb,Burks,Hale

Notes- Cobb and Lawson on the front for the feature. Cobb took the lead early from the start. Lawson broke on the 1st lap after running in second. On the restart from the Lawson break Cobb took the lead again. Hale was running 3rd and got passed by Gilliam coming out of two. However Hale got passed Gilliam in 4. Gilliam went to the pits on lap 8 with motor problems. Cobb was never threatened as he had the field covered.

Champs - 6 cars Heat winner-T. Cobb

Top Five- K Cobb,Harless,Lambert

Notes- Should have known something was going to be up in this class from the start of the night. Scott Johnson's motor blew in hot laps leaving only five cars to battle it out. T. Cobb and Drew Harless started on the front. First attempt was no good so they attempted a second start which was good and T Cobb got out front. However, Clevenger went up in a cloud of smoke coming out of four. Thus having to have a third restart. On the third restart T. Cobb got out yet again. K Cobb was catching Travis by using the high side of the track. Coming out of four Kyle used the high side to pass Travis. They got together and Travis lost the front end b/c of the ordeal. Which brought out another yellow as they towed Travis to the pits. On the fourth restart Kyle checkout and had a half a track lead on Harless.

E-Sprints- 7 cars Heat Winner- White

Top Five-White,Huard,Stinson,Caudle, James

Notes- Talking to a fan in the stands before the races and he told me that they loved watching this class b/c the cars are so close to equal. Sturgeon and Huard started on the front for the feature. Sturgeon took the early lead however Stinson passed him to take the lead. There was two and three wide racing at the beginning of the feature. Taft and White were using the high side of the track. White passed Stinson on lap 4 to take the lead using the high side. White had built a half a straight lead when a caution came out for a tangle between James and Caudle. Both cars restarted on the restart White got back out and never looked back as he had the field cover. The battle was for second between Huard and Stinson who went back and forth for the position.

Mini Stock-6 cars Heat Winner-Powell

Top Five- Powell,Burger,Stauffer,Caraveau

Notes- Two new mini stock this week. However, they went home before the feature. Caraveau and Stauffer on the front for the feature. Stauffer got out early but Powell took the led coming off of 4. Powell was the leader the entire race. Bruger had a tough time getting passed Stauffer for position during the feature. When Burger finally got past there not many laps left. He was trying to pass Powell on the bottom side of four but never could get the pass to stick. he was hitting his rev chip going down the front straight. On the last lap of the feature Powell and Burger were side by side the entire time. However, Powell came away with the win.

Pro/Street- 12 cars Heat Winners- Goodnight, Reed

Top Five- Goodnight,Wolfe,Tucker,Gordon,Allen(welston)

Notes-Webber and Wolfe started on the front of the A.Wolfe got out to the early lead using the high side of the track. There was three wide racing at the beginning of the feature. The yellow flag came out on lap three for a Dixon spin. On the Restart Wolfe was out however Goodnight was all over him. It was side by side racing until lap 6 when Goodnight took the lead. Goodnight never really was bothered most of the night after the pass. The race was for positions 2 though 5 and the cars were back and forth all night.

My thoughts- Races got done at 11:42. Remember they started at 8:30. I am still seeing new cars coming out and try their hand at Brill's. For heat races the track looked perfect. Although, by feature time the track started to get dusty. But, the racing was still excellent. The quality of cars and drivers are much better than the car count says. The crowd was pretty good for an 8:30 start. There were three kid sprint there tonight and Osborn took the win with them.

lets see. sprint cars.

OCRS at Thunderbird - 32
ASCS Sooner at Lawton - 26
Brill Motor Speedway - 6

If that isn't incentive to do SOMETHING - at some point - SOMETIME.....

not sure what is lol.

I'm really not meaning that as knock against Brill -seriously. It's cool he runs 3 weekly open wheel classes - even if all told they don't add up to 20 - I think in the end he could get it up there - especially with E Sprints. But just think the above speaks for itself, even with the other 2 being specials - and I think that is something of a misnomer - 2 special series run on same night - not too incredibly far away from each other - and it totals 32 and 26? thats pretty good. first time I've cracked a smile about sprint car racing in this state for a while lol.

I hope he schedules both OCRS and ASCS there next year - even if its just one time each. Look I'm not his accountant - but I think the place would be fully packed and him profit extremely well.......

Just sayin!!!!! Am I the only one who wants to see a sprint special at Meeker? AND thinks its a hell of a lot more than possible?

btw - not tryin to go negative here - in fact sincerely quite the opposite...

OCRS results indicate a car count of 28 at Thunderbird. Where did you come up with 32??? Surely you're not inflating numbers to get your point across or are you.?

There was an error in the fact that only 4 cars were listed in heat #4 in the original posting. That has since been corrected.

Don't get me wrong....I wasn't taking a shot at the School system. I was an honor student as were both my daughters and my step daughter, with 2 of them being National Honor members. I have alot of friends that went on to be teachers and/or professors.

No, No It's called Schoolin , Kyle

Heard I missed a new track record in the Heat 19 sec. range and 138 MPH , sounds like the ol girl in the 88 car knows where the loud pedal is , man that's Purple Paint Peelin fast right there, kind of like Sammy Swindell fast at Syracuse , think his world record was around 144 MPH.

So is the place still wicked fast , sounds like it was.

I got to watch Hot Laps then it rained , made my shoes muddy and then grew a foot taller with all the mud that made my shoes muddy, cleaned em up and then it quit only to tease us for a bit as it rained again and my shoes got muddied up again then we were done and then went to give the Indians a few bucks and they gave me nothing in return. So it was a pretty shitty night but the Wayne's Drive Inn Cheeseburger with Onion Rings was very delicious!!!!
