I want to tell the piece of sh*t that stole the "Gone Racing" sprint car sign that changes color from our campsite at the North Campground what low life garbage you are! Our campsite is right at the front of the campground, next to our friends who have the lighted palm trees. You had to climb over our rope lights to take our sprint car sign. Most of you at the North Campground have seen the sign, I'm sure. My husband and I have had that sign in front of our campsite for years and nobody ever bothered it. We haven't seen a sign like it anywhere else, so we won't be able to replace it. Everyone coming into the campground enjoyed the way it changed color in the light and it was very unique. So, if you have a friend, relative or know of someone who comes home from the Nationals with a metal sprint car sign that changes color and says "Gone Racing" THEY FREAKIN' STOLE THE DAMN SIGN FROM OUR CAMPSITE!! Real nice you piece of sh*t! I hope your family and friends can see you for what you are. WE DON'T NEED TRASH LIKE YOU AT THE NORTH CAMPGROUND OR ANYWHERE NEAR THE KNOXVILLE NATIONALS FOR THAT MATTER. CRAWL BACK UNDER YOUR ROCK AND STAY THERE!!

How sad. What happened to the "honor system"? Once upon a time you didn't have to worry about your stuff because people appreciated that you worked to have those cool things to display at your campsite. Oops, that's right, nowdays, no one respects other peoples property, or works to get what they want, they just take it. Again, how sad. I'm sorry to hear about the break in.

The event is probably starting to attract trash that's never been to a race in their life, just there to get drunk and steal.

There was lots of stuff stolen this year for sure. On Thursday night, all the cars parked on West Larson Street (the one that goes by the back gate of the track) had a 3 inch nail taken all the way down the sides of them too. Not sure if it is just the naughty Knoxville kids or if it was adults. Have a hard time believing it was race people who might read this message board. However, I think everyone who had a "bad" experience with something like this stuff should let the Knoxville Police Department know.

Some moron stole the drop hitch off the back of my Chevy at Pevely last weekend and it aint that big of deal. But I will say if I had walked up when the moron was stealing it it might have been a big deal, and I probably would have got arrested for knocking his head in!

Things seem like they're going downhill all over. I hear all the time about people stealing stuff off gravestones and going on sprees of kicking them over. Sad and disgusting.

Seemed to be more idiots this year than others, but that was probably due to the fact that there were more people this year.

That sucks... I hate a theif and hope you (and about 30 friends) catch'em trying it again next year! Feel your pain and can't imagine it being "race" fans but rather out of control locals. Real race fans would appreciate your effort rather than steal your work.

We have been camping at the Nationals since '77 and have always believed that sprint car people are good people and left our coolers and etc out while at the races. All we ever lost was a half drank bottle of tequila (having that stolen was probably a blessing in disguise.) Seems as though we're hearing more and more of this happening every year. It's sad, but I guess it's time we start thinking about changing our trusting ways.

I would say most if not all the thefts are locals and non race fans since it sounds like most of it happend while the races were going on.

There has been some problems of things being stolen and stuff like that happening in that neighborhood this year. I thought they caught the person though....
regardless these stories really suck to hear about. The Nationals is the best time of the year and to have this stuff happen is horrible.

Yeah, I agree. I know what you're talking about...the guy from Alabama or wherever. It did seem like a lot of that stuff stopped when they caught him. But I hate to say this as a generalization...I know several "good" kids in Knoxville, but for the most part, they have a bad reputation. Every Homecoming weekend seems like kids are egging cars and houses, breaking and stealing other people's property. There are some problems with kids in this town unfortunately.

I wish I could agree with you, however, our sign disappeared some time after the races on Saturday night, between 1:30 a.m. & daylight. There were no cops there then, so I can only guess that whoever took it waited until the cops were gone, or grabbed it when they were pulling out of the campground. Cowards always do things in the dark. They don't havethe ba**s to let people see what they really are. Sorry about my language, but this really hurt, & disappointed me.
