I was OK with porkchop (all he did was fill in "dead time", actually made the night feel like it went by a little faster).
As far as the Legends cars go, same thing, they filled in dead time. Only thing I didn't like was that the "announcers" failed to tell everyong why they were there (to raise $$$ for the families of fallen firefighters and police officers). A GREAT CAUSE.
Had they mentioned it and actually "announced", the fans would have been somewhat interested.
The motorcycle exhibition on Thursday night was also just a "dead time" filler, as they weren't ready when they were supposed to be the first time, so they moved them to the next slotted "dead time" between features (I'm looking forward to them on the big 1/2 mile in September, should be GREAT racing).
With it being as muggy as it was, the "dead time" would have had people dwelling on the FACT that the heat index was still in the 90's @ 10:00 PM instead of watching "entertainment" on the racetrack.
It was better then watching paint dry wasn't it??

Legends, bikes and Clydesdales (especially the 'Clydes' that was awesome to see them parade in unison pulling that Dalmation and driver) were perfectly okay ...and fine with the fans around us.
'Dork'chop ... that's a fish of a different kettle ....no one we sat around enjoyed nor found him entertaining or the least bit funny.
The guy must think screaming loudly over the p.a. system stupid comments make's him a entertainer.
Very bad thinking on whoever hired him ... any potential car sponsors in the stands most likely would be turned off by his antics.

I realize it was the 50th and they felt like they had to add some stuff. But I hope this guy is 1 and done! Seemed extremely childish for the occasion.
The Clydesdales were awesome. How about that 360 on the front stretch before they headed out! They ONLY complaint might have been the music was so loud you could hardly hear the PA talk about them. I think he was telling us that each position in the hitch does a slightly different job but I couldn't really hear. Other than that it was cool.
I was a little disappointed that there was no flyover on Sat night. I was sort of expecting something considering the significance of the event. I did wonder if someone communicated with the helicopter that was hanging around during the anthem. He moved from the west side to the east right before the fireworks went off. That could have been interesting.

Pork Chop was OK other than the fact that he needs to send a royalty check to Larry the Cable Guy after every performance. Like someone else said....(slightly) better than dead air.
I love the concept of of at least trying to fill the excessive downtime that Knoxville always produces.

Race tracks will always assume that people who come to watch cars go around in circles are morons incapable of conversing politely amongst themselves. They assume we all drink Busch Light and Mountain Dew and marry our first cousins and enjoy contstant noise with absolutey no relief for our ears. Porkchop: As lame as lame gets with the yelling and screaming at a level that was louder than the racecars. The legends and bikes were ok, no real complaints there. Everyone seemed to like the Clydesdales and it was just fine except for the volume level of the Bud song. When was Kasey Kahne ROY in NASCAR? 2004? Not only are the commercials on the big screen really loud and extremely annoying they are 5 years out of date. Thank god for earplugs!

The "clown" made it a bit too much like NAPCAR IMHO... Like Michael said, a little bit of quiet time to shoot the breeze is nice at times....

Loved the Clydesdales. Enjoy some quiet time to talk to the neighbors. I do not need to be entertained every second of the show.
I was undecided on Pork Chop until he did the Walmart-Wife joke. 100% rip off. If you are going to tell jokes in front of 20,000 people make sure that they are original.

Until I read your post I had forgotten that we too talked about the no flyover deal Sat. night.... may have been a logistic deal with the Guard and agree it was a pretty significant event (50th)
They and they have done flyovers at earlier events this year. When those roaring engines (jets) or the 'whuup whuup whuup' (helicopters) come out of the western sunseting sky ...... it is just something special and helps reminds us we are lucky to be Americans.

One of Brian Stickle's assistants told me you must get clearance through the Pentagon to have a flyover. Usually when there is one they come from Offutt (sp?) in Omaha. I guess you had to be around 10 years old to enjoy "Porkchopp." Cappy seemed to enjoy him, he always requested Porkchopp to do something during the down times. They were scheduled to have a flyover last year on Saturday but the cloud cover prevented it.

That Porkchop clown is lucky he didn't hit Doug Clark with that water balloon because I believe Doug would've climbed down with his black flag and made him Knoxville's first "Porkchop on a Stick" rather than just waving it at him.
Funny overheard on the track radio - "Doug black-flagged him ... does that mean he's done for the night?" ... thankfully he was indeed.
Thursday night he was trying to hit Tony Bokhoven's window with a water balloon but it went high over the press box and hit about a foot to the left of Bo Daniels' video camera - a foot the other way and he'd have been hocking his clownmobile to pay for a camera...

Doug's black flag was perfect. Too bad he didn't use it sooner!

I hated, absolutely HATED PorkChop. I was hoping he would be booed off like that clown they had a few years back, that had the car that made all of those loud explosion noises. Did anyone notice after PorkChop shot at Doug Clark that his mic cut off mid-sentence and he never did come back? Makes me wonder if Knoxville decided to not let him come back after that.

Overall though Porkchop was a LOT less irritating than the "band" they had Saturday night ... absolutely awful death metal garbage. I guess TPTB wanted to clear the concourse or something. They were an assault to the ears... and when I looked there were only a handful of people "listening" to the noise - where in years past there was quite a crowd.
