And Steve even said it again tonight. Today, everybody is so even because they have the same equipment. Back when he won so many races he had far better stuff than most everyone else. Big difference. That is what makes Donny's accomplishments so amazing in today's era. Steve is the greatest ever no doubt, but for anyone to dismiss what Schatz has done for the last 4 years is idiotic.

I can't stand Schatz, but I 100% agree that Schatz current Knoxville run is as impressive as any run in the history of the event. It is Taboo to put anyone in the same breath as Kinser, but the current run of Schatz deserves strong consideration as the best Nationals run ever. IMO, the 5th straight title is the exclamation point.
Now greatest of all-time.... 1) agreed; Kinser most likely wouldn't have the same resume had the parity been what it is now.... 2) agreed; sprint cars have changed over the years... there is no guarantee the kids of today could have done what the giants before did without modern technology. Bottom line is Kinser put WoO on the racing map... and Sammy and Wolf aren't far behind.

How old is Schatz? 31? How many Knoxville titles did the King have at 31? I believe the King was 31 in 1985 and at that point he had won it 3 times. Not saying Schatz is anywhere near Kinser in terms of all-time greatness, but just because he's a jerk at times doesn't discount his amazing success in the last half of the decade.

I'd much rather see Donny win than Sammy. He's a much cleaner racer and has a little bit of personality while Sammy has none.
