Stewart has always made it clear what he thinks of the good years.
Anybody know what you call 365 condoms that are melted down into one?

I guess I've grown numb to complaints from drivers about tires.
If they want to talk about a lack of consistency... fair enough.
If not... why did so many other drivers find a way to finish the race without tire issues?
This sounds like another classic example of a driver running a soft tire and being mad because it wore.
No kidding? The incredibly soft tire didn't like 900hp at high speed? You've got to be joking, Paul!
Smart drivers make it work. If your tire won't last... POSSIBLY a little more throttle control and keeping it a little straighter might ease the issue. If not... go with a harder compound.
This really isn't that complicated.

Hoosier has an amazing record of never having a tire fail!

Not a direct reply to you jtslingin, more of a general statement for the discussion.
Paul's tire lasted what... 3 laps last night in his heat race before it blew out and he went for a ride....? I'd say that has very little to do with how much talent Paul has, and a lot to do with how bad of a tire it is.
I am also fairly sure we saw how much talent Paul had after driving to 7th in the A-Main.

Almost 100% sure it was a GY. Same as the tire Donny had let go right at the end.

i agree JCE. i was not ripping Paulie as he is one of my favs.as it was stated,no cords,no wear after 3 laps.it blew apart.would be in the a scramble if not for the tire.but,it racing and these things do happen.

I've hardly seen any GY tires blow this year and the racing has been the best it's been since BH(Before Hoosier). Kinda makes me wonder if the people having tires blow aren't doping them.

The problem with Good Years is that they are extremely inconsistent. So the people claiming that "so and so had no problems with the Good Years they must be great" dont get it. They are hit or miss in regards to quality. They should rename the Good Years to "May Pops" these things do provide good racing when they dont randomly explode otherwise its a crap shoot what you will get. Paul was right on in his comments as was Shane Stewart when he won night 1 and made a comment about these "goofy tires". I suppose all these racers who are not happy are just dealing with sour grapes right? What could they know compared to message board folks?
Cheers!

My turn...
Did Hoosiers fail from time to time? YES
Do Goodyears fail at a higher rate than the Hoosiers did? ABSOLUTELY!
Paul's tire did not explode because it wore out, the track was not even close to being condusive enough to wear a tire out in a heat race. The Goodyears are failing because of flaws in the side wall, bead, tread, etc. The new Goodyear tires have been getting complaints all year and it's not something that should just be brushed aside as bad luck. These new tires seem to be cheaply made (in Mexico from what I've read) by a large tire maker that is looking to make profits. I feel bad for Paulie last night, he would have had a shot at top 10 points if disaster hadn't struck.
