Whats the reason this year?
Will there ever be a "fully inverted" heat race again?
I'm thinking no and that sucks.

When they get more than 50 cars and can sift out the junk (slower) cars in a non-qualifiers heat race, they will bring back a full invert. My guess is this is the way for them to prevent wrecks and tearing up good cars.

They only inverted 8 last year, Now a days it is very hard to come from the back.
Just like tonight when only 1 car in the top 10 time made out of the heats

Valid points on both sides of the coin.... but when safety is an issue then best to get on that side of the fence.

Super Chuck knows he will be in the large minority on this one, but he thinks inverting 8 is still too many. With the way the competition has been leveled the past 10 years or so, you just don't see the fast guys being able to make their way to the front on a narrow track anymore. When the race teams can all buy the same cookie-cutter parts, the same hard hitting motors, there just isn't that much difference between say a TSR or KKR car and a local with good stuff. You put a guy who times in 40th quick on the front row, he still has a realistic chance of winning the heat and almost a for sure transfer. The difference doesn't show up until the track slicks off.
When only 4 of the top 20 in TTs make it through, you really have to either evaluate the system or force the fast cars to sandbag so they can transfer. Super Chuck wants to see the best of the best go at it, not the best at playing the system.
Two cents spent...

Problem is that typically Thursday night the track is wider and the invert usually doesn't have nearly the effect... even with today's parity. Anymore, I dread seeing my favorites on the Wednesday entry list. The Wednesday B-Main has become the second most stressful feature of the week! Seems like you really need a bit more fortune to survive the Wednesday show... regardless of the calibur of entries.

I've had more than one driver accustomed to starting in the back, tell me they would prefer to go back to the invert of 10, believe it or not. They feel it slows the start down and gives them an opportunity to pick up a handful of spots early on. Now the front two rows have a lot faster cars, and they just take off. I tend to agree with them from what I've seen. We'll see on Thursday!
If this post isn't results, stories or something c
constructive, it isn't me!

Bill that is exactly my thoughts on the invert of 8. It doesn't help the fast guys except for guaranteeing the top 4 in TT that they will start at the front of the B.
Plus it screws the living daylights out of the guys that time 41-50. They might as well roll the car into the trailer after TT. With a 10 invert they at least had a small chance at hanging on to a top 4 and making the A or at least make the B. Now the only hope of anything better than the C is for cars infront of them to drop out.
Without inverting 10 there is no way that car counts will ever increase, it is more likely the car count will decrease. There is only room for 40 cars in an invert of 8, they will never have car counts in the upper 50's- 60's again, esp with less than a full invert in the heats.
With the points system the way it is there is no benefit to sandbagging time trials even if timing fast means you may miss the feature. 200 points in time trials is too many to pass up.
The system wasn't broke. Now it sorta is and lessening the invert will only relegate the Nationals to being just another Outlaw show.
Bring back the full invert.
