FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE AUGUST 9, 2010 DICK JORDAN 10-176
SANTA MARIA ON TAP FOR CRA SPRINTS SATURDAY
Santa Maria (Calif.) Speedway hosts this Saturday night’s AMSOIL USAC/CRA Sprint race and it remains to be seen if David Cardey’s recent success can spill over onto the third-mile Santa Maria oval on the track’s Mega 97.1 FM night.
Cardey has won the last four races at Perris Auto Speedway and has climbed to seventh in the standings as a result.
Mike Spencer continues to lead the USAC/CRA standings, 61 ahead of Danny Sheridan going into Saturday’s race at Santa Maria. Spencer finished second last year at Santa Maria and Cardey was third behind race winner Garrett Hansen.
AMSOIL USAC/CRA SPRINT SERIES POINT STANDINGS
1-Mike Spencer-669, 2-Danny Sheridan-608, 3-Cory Kruseman-523, 4-Blake Miller-492, 5-Matt Mitchell-470, 6-Greg Bragg-408, 7-David Cardey-375, 8-Jimmy Crawford-348, 9-Cody Williams-342, 10-Tony Jones-326.

Yes Bud Kaeding will be there. Leaving Knoxville to race Santa Maria! Pretty cool, huh? Actually he is racing a USAC Silver Crown race in Michigan on Thursday and then Flying in Friday.

Tony Jones is also expected - hopefully Dave Cardey will be as well. Should be great and can't wait to make the drive up to Santa Maria!

I have been at the last few 360 races and they were great. The track condition was like the good times The track kept getting Better & Better all night. The track should be great for the 410's this weekend I hope for a good car count so they can get more races At a great race track

I drove by Wednesday and noticed that Chris has the track furrowed right now to help set it up for Saturday. The weather up here has been cool and overcast until mid-afternoon, so the track should be more like a spring or fall than summer track, and that means fast.
If you're coming from the east side of LA Saturday afternoon, I suggest taking the 210, the 118 and Los Angeles Avenue out to Ventura and then up the 101 to the 166 East offramp (then left under the freeway and right to the track). I've made the run many times, and the 101 through the south side of the Valley is dismal, even on Saturday.
Give yourself a good four hours from OC, San Berdoo or Riverside County. If coming from the west side, you may do better on Highway One through Malibu, Mugu and Oxnard to the 101.
If you're (really) hungry, head over to Jocko's in Nipomo by about 4:00 pm. (I mean =really= hungry.)

Just noticed there're no GSC winged 410 or USAC Western 360 show this Saturday. =More= Kaedings? Danny Faria? Tommy T.? Peter Murphy? Others with access to a 410 or a fast enough 360 to take a shot? Hmmm.

It should be a good show with a good field of sprint cars - hope for a good turnout in support of a good promoter. Maybe great show!

Raj, thanks for the credit, but i can barely drive a tractor. But yes my track prep guy does have the track "furrowed".
If your really hungry head to the Santa Maria concession stand about 4:00pm, not Jocko's . lol
Yes Danny Faria will be running Saturday. So will Davey Pombo.
