Yes you are correct, it was Stan Fox. As a matter of fact he won the last Turkey Night race in the 9 car. That was a sad night. Even for a couple fans from Nor Cal. I still have the farewell poster hanging behind me as I type this.
Let the deperssion set in!!!

Yeah,I remember that last night at Ascot.I also remember they were selling souvenir's of Ascot dirt.Well I just walked up to Stan's car and pulled a piece off his right side nurf-bar.I still have it stashed somewhere,in fact it's in the same plastic container I put it in that night.Man,I sure miss my freind Stan Fox.,he was a class act.

In very early 1991 I had to crawl under the fence on Vermont Ave to get into Ascot. It was very sad to see the place being torn down. I found a discarded soft drink cup and filled it full of clay. Got small piece of the crash wall and grandstand. I was able to get into the press box and found under alot of dirt and junk a un-used midget entry form for the last Turkey night race. I still have all of these. And yes I did walk the 1/2 mile track at 2:00am in the morning after the last race. Very sad night.

At the Argo race shop, which is only a 5 min.drive away from the Ascot location,Rodney has a large blue Ascot oval sign hanging from the back wall.Along with one of the parking lot tree stump posts that has a nice engraved plaque. There may be a few more items that I am not aware of lying around.

Does Rodney race any more these days? I go way back with him, but havent seen him in results lately, unless i havent been looking close enough.

Rod is taking the year off so his back can heal properly.I think he is still planning on racing next season if only on a limited basis.I hope he does because Don has three cars with motors sitting in the shop and I'm itching to get back out there too.Last night I dusted off and played my DVD copy of the Versus cage-cam that was on Rod's car the night he finished 2nd behind Tony Jones. It still gives me goose bumps.I might even show up with it at the Alexander's fund raiser on Aug.22nd.I hope that bar has a DVD player. Yes we do have a DVD player Catfish and would be more than happy to play it on our 42" flat screen television. Zanzabuku Sports Lounge, Lakewood, CA.
