3rd Annual Cowtown Sprint Nationals Unveiled; October 8-9

Kennedale, TX (8/6/10) by DarinShort.com. October 8-9 will mark the biggest event on Cowtown Speedway’s 2010 schedule, with the running of the 3rd Annual Cowtown Sprint Nationals (CSN). Six racing divisions are on tap, guaranteeing race fans non-stop action over the two days of racing.

Friday night’s program for the Sprint Cars (ASCS legal sprints) will consist of heat races with passing points to determine the line up for that night’s 30-lap feature. The top four finishers will be locked into the Saturday finale. Heat races and qualifying features will be contested for the ASCS2 divisions of: Non-Winged Midgets, Non-Winged A-Class 600’s, Outlaw Winged 600’s (all racing on the ¼ mile track) and Restricted Winged 600’s (racing on the ‘Action Track’). The Performance Transmissions raceTX.com Limited Modifieds will have heat races and qualifying feature races as well.

Saturday night’s program for the Sprint Cars will be a totally new program, with the same qualifying format as Friday, with the top two point getters joining the four locked in drivers from Friday; then those six will redraw for the line-up for the 40-lap CSN finale on Saturday October 9th. The ASCS2 divisions and the raceTX.com Limiteds will each run last chance races and championship features.

Here is a breakdown of the weekend’s events that include six racing divisions:

Cowtown Sprint Nationals. This is the 3rd annual event, featuring drivers from throughout the region, plus many National invaders will all be slugging it out in a 30-lap feature race on Friday October 8th and a giant 40-lap, 24-car championship feature on October 9th. The inaugural winner was the 2007 Knoxville 410 Sprint Car point champion, Brian Brown. 49 sprint drivers competed in the inaugural event. 71 sprint teams competed in the 2009 event, with the finale getting rained out after a freak weather pattern settled over the speedway, so the purse money for the sprint cars was paid out and the balance of the program was run the night before the November Sprint Shootout. A practice night is scheduled for all race divisions on Thursday October 7th. Since the track’s reconfiguration in 2008 (15’ wider all the way around), it has resulted in incredible sprint racing with faster cars being able to advance their position regardless of their starting positions; which is a race fan’s dream.

Drivers. There is a $50 early registration fee for sprint cars, which will reserve the first 50 sprint teams a concrete padded pit space at the CSN. Sprint teams need to pre-enter at the track website in order to have a pit space reserved for them in the pit area. This allows the track to keep organized and race fans informed of will be racing throughout the weekend. Pre-entries must be received by October 4th. No phone-in registrations or pit reservations are allowed. Visit
http://www.CowtownSpeedway.com to preregister. All other divisions are highly encouraged to pre-register at this time as well, as a very full pit area can be expected and parking requests will be fulfilled by entry date first.

Fans can expect to see many of the sprint car stars from the South, plus several national stars can be expected. Many ‘invaders’ from across the U.S. will also take on the ¼ mile high banks. The pre-entry list will be published as drivers sign up at the track website. This event is also the second to last ASCS2 series point’s race for 2010. The final ASCS2 division race will also take place at Cowtown during the running of the 4th Annual November Sprint Shootout on November 12-13th.

Two-day grandstand passes. Fans can save $10 by purchasing their tickets online at the track website through October 7 (the day before the race). A 2-day adult grandstand pass will cost just $35. Tickets will be available at the gate on race night for $20 on Friday and $25 on Saturday. Youth (ages 6-11) and child (ages 3-5) tickets will remain at just $5 and $2 on each night. Visit http://www.CowtownSpeedway.com for complete details, including the event flyer. Pit passes are $35 each night and are available on race night by cash only; as the track payback is in cash. No checks allowed.

3rd Annual Cowtown Fan Fest. On October 9th, race fans of all ages holding event tickets for that night’s Nationals finale will be allowed into the pit area from 3pm until 4:10pm. Fans will be able to check out the cars and stars in all of the race divisions, take pictures, visit with the teams, purchase team apparel & merchandise; plus get a behind the scenes look before the action takes place on the track. Plus, many prizes will be given away to race program holders attending the Fan Fest.

Travel Tips. For flight options,
http://www.Travelocity.com is a great source of information, especially by clicking their ‘Last Minute Deals’ section that includes hotels and even car rentals; many at heavily discounted prices. Also note that DFW serves as a major airport hub for the entire U.S., and with a bit of planning, you can fly in and out during the week affordably; so you can return for the following weekend’s racing action.

Weather. October is typically dry and highs in the 80’s. We will monitor the weather as the event date gets closer and hopefully there will be no hoops and hurdles we have to jump through like in 2009 – but we’re prepared to juggle if we have to. An October 10th 2pm raindate is in place, just in case.

It’s Almost Here. We look forward to see many new teams and faces at the Cowtown Sprint Nationals, and please visit CowtownSpeedway.com for the latest event news, as the Nationals page will be updated regularly.

Plus, Don’t Miss the 4th Annual City Vending November Sprint Shootout (NSS), November 12-13, Cowtown Speedway, Kennedale, TX. The past two NSS’s produced over 200 race teams as they slugged it out over the weekend, with Arkansas’s Tim Crawley winning the 2008 NSS, while Brady Bacon took it all home in 2009. Be watching for the NSS event flyer, which will be released soon.

Early-early entries to this event have already been received from as far away as Missouri, plus Oklahoma and Texas. We're compiling the entries as they come in and I'll put up the first round of entries around September 15...or about 4 weeks before the event. Then periodic updates will be provided at least a couple of times before race weekend on October 8-9.

To get your team pre-entered, just click: www.cowtownspeedway.com/csn10.html and the user-friendly shopping cart will allow you to get multiple cars registered with ease, as well as 2-day adult tickets and much more with just a few clicks. Also, you do not need to be a paypal member to use; just a credit or debit card will work just fine.

Thanks to those that have already entered, it's going to be a great weekend of racing!

ps: the November Sprint Shootout flyer and PR will be coming by mid-September as well.

Entries continue to roll in for the 3rd annual Cowtown Sprint Nationals and drivers from AR, TX, OK, MO, KS and NM are now entered. I have received verbal entries from other states, but those will be added when they become official.

A quick check of flights also shows amazing deals still out there. For example, I just spotted a non-stop from Minneapolis to DFW for $199 including all fees - round trip! Pretty crazy deal.

As soon as the Topless 100 has concluded this weekend at Cowtown Speedway, we'll start publishing more information about CSN.

To get your team entered (saves $25 over race week pricing, and gets you a paved pit space) or to purchase 2-day adult grandstand tickets (saves $10 over race day pricing) click: www.cowtownspeedway.com/csn10.html for complete details.

Also, the 4th annual November Sprint Shootout at Cowtown Speedway (Nov. 12-13) is coming together and details will be released soon.

The fall racing season kicks off this weekend, so try to take in as many as you can wherever you live and catch some of the best racing of the year!
