NCRA Modified South Invades Cowtown Speedway This Saturday!
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE - Midwest City, Oklahoma – August 9, 2010 - After nearly two and a half months off, the modified cars and stars of the O'Reilly/NCRA modified south division will be back in action this coming Saturday night (August 14) as they make their third and final appearance of the season at Cowtown Speedway in Kennedale, Texas. And not only will the battle for the series points championship resume but the question as to whether yet another different driver will take the checkered flag.
Despite not winning a feature thus far during the 2010 race season, Mickey Lassiter of Piedmont, Oklahoma comes into the weekend with a 165 point lead over Tulsa, Oklahoma driver Chad Davis. Out of the six races held, Mickey has finished in the top ten four times with three of those finishes in the top five. Davis is one of the six feature winners on the 2010 trail so far, picking up his first ever series triumph at Elk Citys I-40 Speedway back earlier in the season.
Thomas Tillison, Jr. of Wellston is just fifteen points behind Davis and third in the point standings. Tillison picked up his first career series victory at Route 66 Motor Speedway in Amarillo, Texas back on June 12th.
Sitting fourth in the point standings is Tulsa driver Matt French while Moore, Oklahoma veteran Alan Oliva sits fifth in the point standings.
Despite missing the series opener at Cowtown Speedway back in March, Alan Sharpensteen of Amarillo is sixth in the point standings with inaugural series champion Gene Weaver of Amarillo struggling thus far in 2010 as he sits seventh . Lawton, Oklahoma drivers Jason Hilliard and Chris Cole sit eighth and ninth in the standings while Chandler, Oklahoma youngster Colt Goodman is tenth. Jim Pearcy of Springfield, Missouri is one of those drivers having made all six events that have been held and is currently eleventh in the standings.
As mentioned, it will be up in the air as to who could win this Cowtown event as six different drivers have reach victory lane thus far in 2010 and dating back to the last two races last year, eight different drivers have taken victories. Drivers who have reached victory lane thus far include the afore mentioned Davis and Tillison along with Craig Chaffin, Triston Dycus, Dusty Robbins and John Allen. The victories by both Dycus and Allen came at Cowtown Speedway earlier this season.
With the victories tied at one a piece for the NCRA and Cowtown Speedway, this event will be the deciding factor amongst both groups. Along with Dycus, other track regulars expected to compete for the $1000 to win, $200 to start twenty car feature finale field include Clyde Dunn, Jr., Terry Pritchett, Jared Webb, Troy Taylor, George White and Bobby Malchus.
All "B" feature drivers not making it into the feature finale will be paid $100.
The past two O'Reilly/NCRA modified south events at Cowtown Speedway has seen 46 for the season opener back in March and 47 back in May and that would be the estimated for this third and final appearance of the season at the 'lil quarter mile clay oval.
