First let me say that I live in Pa and love it when the locals beat the Outlaws.( The fans were going nuts when Hodnett came back to win). I read this message board every day. That being said, because of a FEW Posse Fan posters putting crap on this board everytime the Posse beats the Outlaws at Williams Grove, this whole board thinks the Pa fans are ALL like that and I am starting to resent it as I am sure many other Posse fans are as well. There is no doubt the Pa fans are passionate about this sport, but I am sure fans fron Ca, Ia, Oh etc feel the same way. We are very fortunate that we have a decent crop of good drivers and farely wealthy owners who can compete at a high level. The THEM vs Us mentality on this board is getting old. I have the utmost respect for ALL Sprint Car drivers no matter where they were born or where their car owner is from. I am sure we address this issue all over again come October when the Outlaws come back for the Williams Grove National Open!!!!

Great post. I think the WoO vs. PA Posse is great for sprint car racing. I have been to local WG shows & WG All Star shows and nothing beats the WoO shows three weekends per year. I had some fun debates with the Beer Hill gang as I am pro outlaws.
I am ooking forward to the Natiional Open in October. I think with the current PA Posse streak of 8 wins in a row, makes this race even more interesting!

Except, on this occasion, Esh was an Outlaw................no matter how you look at it, the R19 is not a Posse car, it is a WoO car. So, Esh was Outlaw............Posse win streak of two in a row done. Don't forget, at Lenerville, Saldana took the second feature and Schatz the overall win.

Spot, I agree, the "RULES" have always been interpreted that a win follows the car owner, ie ( Walker with Keen, Hodnett with Kline, Pittman with Heffner, etc). But I can guarantee someone will come on here and say since the R19's engine was built in Pa ( Cappetta) and the driver was from Pa, 2 is greater than one and it is an Posse win. ( Ha Ha)

Not a posse car, I get that, but it blows the theory of some that a driver from PA can't make it with the WoO. The WoO can have Esh for a little while to prove that point, we'll hang onto Walker and Pittman in the meantime

"Rules", what freaking rules? It's pretty simple and I would say most people with common sense would view it this way: Despite where the owner or driver is from, where (or with whom) they predominantly run, is who most people would affiliate that driver or team.
Now that McCarl is "off the tour" and predominately runs Knoxville, if he were to win the Nationals, Knoxville fans will have every right to pound their chest as a "local" will have won. The Hammer has run PA all year, every year, so again "common sense" would call it a win for the Posse. If the Hammer ends up running the rest of the WoO schedule, well that may change people's take on the matter. These "debates" center on the drivers more than the cars. Despite Kevin Gobrecht's start in PA and in particular his start in 1999, few would consider his win at the HBO as a Posse win, because he was at the time of the win an Outlaw regular. The fact that he cut his teeth in Posseland, will and has certainly been used to refute the silly argument that Posse "never leaves the porch," "don't go on the road," "don't run with a series," etc. (See also Stevie Smith, who once again despite living elsewhere, predominately runs in PA). Hodnett, Pittman, Walker, Henderson have been claimed as Posse because this is where they predominately run. When they leave, well, I hope you get the picture.

If a driver runs Pa on a regular basis, he is Posse. If he runs with the Outlaws on a regular basis he is Outlaw. That's the way i see it.

If one of our guys didn't win it, I'd love to see McCarl win it as a local after the year he's had, couldn't be scripted better.

FACT: the World of Outlaws drivers have a combined record of 3-5 in A main competition since they crossed the Ohio/Indiana border on July14th for the Brad Doty Classic...simple fact - no emotion added for dramatic effect...
...you can tell me all about "overall champions", replacement drivers, and what states the haulers are registered in, but the FACT remains the same...World of Outlaw drivers are 3-5 in A main competition since crossing the Ohio/Indiana border...

This really is getting silly. If the competitors weren't stiffled by a huge stack of rules, this subject would have some real importance. The posse is winning now because everyone runs the same stuff. Why shouldn't Hodnett win? He is a previous WoO veteran. He got tired of getting whipped by the guys that are now ready for AARP so he came to PA. He drives a peice identicle to what half the WoO guys run and now camps in cental PA 51 weeks a year. A Memphis native driving an Ott chev Goodyear tired 1200 lb Maxim tiptoed on the bottom passed a Memphis native driving an Ott chev Goodyear tired 1200 lb Maxim. Wow!
Luna's Ford engine style that won 2 WoO titles and 3
Kings Royals before a weight rule against the best EVER
in their prime and now DOMINATES super dirt late model
racing is no longer allowed/wanted in a WoO sprint
car.... Was Luna a miracle worker?
