That OPEN red killed it! Why didn't they have a closed red and just add fuel? Hodnett was going backward and maybe holding his own at the time of the red. I saw it coming. The bottom was the place to be.
Time to put the larger tanks on and/or shorten the race. They are midget tanks and I installed one in '92. Fuel stops defeat the definition of a sprint car race.
Well done Hodnett and crew. Can't wait for the Nationals. One other thing is that at least the Posse show up for the Nationals.

Won't fix a thing. Open red at Lernerville with a couple to go and everyone still ran out of fuel. Short of the officials walking around with a fuel stick nothing will change. I say just dock them points for bringing out a yellow by running out of fuel. That way they will at least be forced to coast off the track if possible, or if they are trapped up top pay the price.
They don't even know how to spell sprint car

I agree...the small tanks and red flag fuel stops are a joke.
Open red flags should be limited to 1 minute, plenty of time for
a tire change, pressure chage etc..oh and a splash of fuel. Ugghh
Good on Hodnett for his SUmmer Nationals win. He is a great guy!

Hodnett is a great guy, remember him from his Selma Shell WoO days, humble man as are most racers I guess, but not all.
Lawlessness + liberalism = HELL - NYC, Detroit, Chicago,
Seattle, LA Who the H runs those cities.

Last night the open red for fuel bit them in the ass. Oh well, on more time at the Grove this year.
Yep, the nightmare continues.

Here is a eye opener for you, they don't pump motors any more. I wonder how many are running legal. If the outlaws would get caught cheatin they would loose the purse & points but the locals just loose the purse. what is the incentive to not cheat, if their is no threat of gettin caught. they should go back to run what you bring to the track, including tires too, or find a way to enforce the rules. That 22 didn't need a red, he could go forward any time he chose to. And the 30c started 26th and ended up 6th. I say we pump them and take the mag box. Wait till the nationals when they know they will be pumped and see how these guys do. The 91 has 10 fast times this year, lets see how fast he is at Knoxville, i might have to eat my words but i don't think so.

Pretty much like any "business" that changes hands to another entity or is handed down to the second generation. It may go downhill fast or make take a few years,to decline. Everyone bad mouthed Ted Johnson lots of times back in the day,but look what Ted built up in time, and all the good racing the WOO provided when Ted was still at the controls. No one in the managerial dept now , of WOO,has any "stake" in the business so things are bound to get sloppy, and this is just a fact, sad to say. Not to say the WOO still does not put on a good racing program, but the hard core racing 'vibe' is just not there like the WOO of many years ago. Just my thoughts.

Huge Outlaw fan here, but those were some really poorly run programs this weekend. Had a newbie with me and the lap 7 fuel stop had him scratching his head. Fuel stops in the B main on the Friday show made the thing look bush league too. One more thing, way too many calls for jumping the start this weekend. Killed the momentum of a lot of good racing.

Huge sprint car fan here too....I like and don't like many things that go on at our favorite tracks but I'll be back when they have the next WoO show especially seeing 48 cars take time. Jumping the starts seems like the plan of the day for many travelers and it seems it was running rampant in the "B" with guys not in position to make the show. The technology has such a fine line on these cars that you can be the one to beat today then the next not even on the map. I'm not one to wish for changes so soon ie: bigger tanks etc. which could make the show a bore.

Yeah, and it is getting "seriouser" by the minute. I heard from "someone" that Webb has a guy on the "inside" and is getting info to use in his series.
The Knoxville "pumpers" have gotten some double-secret info on the big boys and are ready for them.
We haven't heard the end of this!

Saldana and McMahan have always timed well. Even as rookies on the WoO tour they were able to throw down solid times in qualifying. McMahan joining the KKR team with the ability to share info with Saldana would only enhance McMahan's qualifying ability. I don't think the results of one night of qualifying at an event with 50+ hitting the track will be much of a test to see if someone is "cheating".
If McMahan throws down a poor time at the Nationals, I'll bet it is more of a result of when he hits the track rather than a "cheating" conspiracy.

I also do not have as much of a problem as most posters in regards to the fuel stops. Credit to the WoO for eliminating the guarantee work time in the 2nd half of the feature. Having that rule has to make the teams sweat a little about running out of fuel. Adding laps helps eliminate the guarantee of the winner coming from the front three rows. I'm all for anything that will lead to more exciting racing.

big tanks should be mandatory, and then weigh the cars before the race with a different min. that would make them put plenty of fuel in
