This is my opinion, but the Silver Cup seems to have lost significance as a prestigious event since they went to a two-race format. The drivers have to run twice as many laps for the same money as when it was a 30 lap $30,000 to win event. Would Knoxville or Eldora be as significant if they went to such a format? If Lernerville wants to run a two feature event, do it on another date and bring the prestige of the Don Martin Silver Cup back as a single big paying event. Just my opinion - your thoughts out there.

Always in the eye of the beholder: As a fan sitting at home, reading and listening to the event, certainly seems to be less prestige as the Silver Cup "champion" likely won't win either feature. BUT, if I were a fan in attendence, there would be the prestige of getting to see two WoO A-mains for the price of one.

I guess i'm just a traditionalist, but i would rather have seen Lance DeWease as "the" Don Martin Champion with all the accolades and his name on the list of event winners. I've always thought of this as a special event right up there withe Kings Royal and Knoxville. I have nothing against Donnie Schatz, but being the champion of the event without winning a race seems meaningless. Again, just my opinion.

After watching the late great Don Martin run Lernerville for many years I feel that he would be pleased that more than one driver has a chance at a good pay day than just one taking home the lions share.
