Wanted to give an update on the Johnny Key Classic lap money, as we were able to sell some this past weekend.
Have to give thanks to my good buddies Andrea and Judy for helping collect the laps on Friday at Ocean Speedway.
Here are the laps currently taken:
Lap 1- Kyle Larson Fan Club
Lap 3- Stadelhofer Construction

Lap 5- Stadelhofer Construction

The 50th running of the Johnny Key Classic is fast approaching. The memorial event honoring local racing legend Johnny Key will be run on Sat august 28, 2010. The race has long ties to local bay area motorsports, having been run for the first time in 1954, following the racing death of Johnny Key during a midget race car event in Ohio.
Through the years this race has been a must see event for fans and a highly sought after win for the competitors. A tradition of this event has been the collection of lap money from fans as well as other interested parties. This collection of money has always been awarded to the leader or top lead cars for every lap of the event, making it that much more important to be up front as much as possible.
You can get in touch with a couple of people via email to set up a donation or find out additional info. The $50 per lap will be divided up between the top three positions for the lap as follows: $25 for 1st, $15 for 2nd, and $10 for third. There are a total of 50 laps (1-50) Again, please join in and be a part of this historical event.

Elk Grove’s Kyle Larson and Salinas, CA’s Ronnie Day are the first two drivers to lock themselves into this year’s 50th Johnny Key Classic. Larson has won the first two qualifying races for the Key, with Day getting in by virtue of a second place finish this past Friday.
