DAVID CARDEY WINS FIFTH WIN IN A ROW – NEEDS RIDE FOR SATURDAY!
(JULY 15, 2010, RIVERSIDE, CA) Just when it looked like the incredible winning streak of Riverside, California Sprint Car star David Cardey was about to come to an end, the 34-year old driver used more late race heroics to post his fifth win in as many starts. The latest win came at the Victorville Auto Raceway last Saturday.
Making his second ever appearance in speed merchant Don Blair's famous #12 Sprint Car, Cardey started on the pole for the main event. When the green flag signaled the start of the race on the warm, star filled desert night; Cardey did something he has not done recently. He went backwards in the field! In fact, he dropped all the way back to fourth before the skid stopped. Many in the crowd and the pits thought his winning streak would end at four. However, there is one thing to remember. David Cardey is a fierce competitor and the thought of giving up was never in the equation.
Much to the delight of the fans, Cardey went to the top of the racetrack in search of some valued, and much needed, traction. It worked! The slender racer slowly and methodically began carve a path to the front of the pack as well as through the lapped traffic. Late in the race he looked to be headed for a third place finish, but amazingly, a mad dash on the last two laps followed by a photo finish gave Cardey his fifth win in his last five starts.
Cardey hopes to go for six in a row this Saturday, July 17th, in the ASCS Sprint Car race at Perris Auto Speedway. However, even though he is the hottest Sprint Car driver west of the Mississippi, he was still searching for a ride when this piece went to press on Thursday.
