From the Southwest Side, San Gabriel or East San Fernando Valleys: Straight up the 405 and 5 to the 166, and west 90 miles right under the 101 and take a hard right. Hit the 5-118 junction by 3:00 pm to give yourself time for a rest stop at the bottom of the Grapevine and still see the qualifying.

From the Upper West Side or West Valley: Over Topanga and out the 101 to the 166, hard left at the bottom of the offramp and hard right on the other side of the underpass. Two and a half hours from Topanga and the 101 with a pit stop, so be =there= by 3:30.

From Tulare and Hanford: Down the 41 to the James Dean, then south on the 46 to the 101 in Paso Robles. It's about 65 miles from there to the 166; take a 180 to the right at the bottom of the offramp. Figure three hours with a stop in Kettleman City (and =don't= get on the 5).

The last few GSC shows in Tulare, Watsonville and Hanford have been eye-openers for a non-wing fan. These are not "parades" on one-laners, especially when lapped traffic becomes an issue. And if you haven't been there yet, Santa Maria Speedway is at least as "scenic" as Perris or Manzanita.

RVer's: Make an all-nighter or a weekend of it and head up to the Pismo Dunes after the show ('cause they =are= "up all night" there). Take the 101 north about five miles to Tefft, and left straight out to Highway 1. Go right to Pier and left to the main gate.

I was undecided on going to Santa Maria for the GSC show, but Raj remoinded me of those terrific shows I saw at Tulare and Hanford. Either 100 miles to V'ville for 12 cars over the desert or 142 up the beautiful shore for a great wing show. Hope to see Raj and Nonwinglunatic up there. Anybody else going?

Chris; rumors I hear is that you keep a multi groove track. See you Saturday. Only wish TK was running but I guess he's running with the Outlaws.

Not sure what the turnout will be like, but if it's heavy and the trackside parking lot fills up, follow the directions of the people in the industrial park lots on the way north from 166 to the track and park in them. If there are traffic directors at those lots, it means Chris is runnig vans down to those lots before and after the show every few minutes.

Victorville had 21 cars and Rickie Gaunt is probably wondering still how David Cardey got by him at the checkers.

Pretty good show. Yeah, that's right. Ring up another one for David Cardey.
