Way to go Shane and the 121 team, they have been close a few times this year and now they got that first one.

That's 2 mains in a row for Shane. He will be looking to make it a 3rd tomorrow at Placerville in the John and Jean Taylor #35.

Sugar Shane Golobic wins Petaluma Civil War

Sugar Shane Golobic led at two different points in last night's spectacular A Main Event at Petaluma Speedway including when it meant the most as the Fremont native bested a 30 car field and won for the first time under a wing at the Petaluma 3/8ths. Following Golobic across the line were Sean Becker, Herman Klein, a spectacular Stephen Allard, and Mason Moore rounded out the top 5.

Golobic rocketed to the lead from the outside of Row 1 in the Country Buiders Construction/Joe Von Schriltz owned 121 as pole-sitter Geoff Ensign nearly looped his mount in front of the entire field in turn 2. Ensign corrected, but lost precious positions and was never a factor in the top 5. Golobic led the first 13 green flag laps as 3rd starting Mike Henry closed in. Lapped traffic played a factor as Golobic chose the high side going around a lapper into turn 3 and Henry blasted by the Fremont wheelman for the lead by taking the low route on lap 14. Golobic tried two slidejobs on Henry, with one of them looking like it was going to take both he and the leader out in 3 and 4, but they proved fruitless. A lap 15 yellow sent third running Stephen Allard to the back of the pack with a harmless spin in turns 1 and 2, which led to a charge from the back of the field from the Chico driver in the Smitty Boys #14s. Ryan Gomes, in a completely unrelated accident, turned his car over in turn 4 just as the yellow for Allard came out, ending his night.

On the resart, Bradley Terrell's motor quit and he was done for the night, bringing out another yellow, only delaying the drama as Golobic and Henry were set for an epic battle. When the green fell, Golobic dogged Henry for the next ten circuits as the leaders knifed through lapped traffic, with Golobic actually drag racing side by side down the frontstretch with Henry at one point but couldn't make the pass. Henry finally relinquished the top spot when he spun in turn 2 with the lead in the midst of that battle for the top spot, and brought out the final yellow. Golobic led the final five laps to secure his first winged victory at the speedway he made his sprint car debut on. Kudos to Sugar Shane.

Also congrats to Stephen Allard, who was spectacular all night long including a last turn, high side, I-keep-my-wheelbarrow-on-the-rear-nerf pass to grab the final transfer spot to the main event in his heat race, and then came from the back in the A after his lap 15 spin to finish 4th.

Camron Mendes paced the field in qualifying with a 12.592 @ 107.211MPH.

Heat race wins went to Jeremy Burt, Mike Henry (who started 5th and was putting on a show on the high side), Cody Lamar and Sean Becker (who came from his 6th starting position to grab the lead coming out of turn 2..this is not a typo).

All in all, a must-see show. Hope you were there.
