A few month's ago there was a parent on here that thought $15 was too expensive to take their child to see the World Of Outlaws at Knoxville. We recently went to the Dodge City Outlaw race and was totally shocked to see that they did not have any discount for children. $35 a ticket for my 3 year old and 8 year old. Is no discount for children a common practice across the country?

I haven't taken my grandkids to a race yet this year, but at the three different tracks we watched the WOO last year, there was a discount for kids. Going to Brainerd on Sat. with them, so we'll see.

My two cents--very poor marketing:
A) The race promoters must think their current adult ticket buyers are immortal and they don't need to develop new customers.
B) If you get children "hooked" on sprint car racing they can be a powerful influence on having their parents take them often to the races.

Lakeside was $15 for a childs ticket for the grandstands but if they went to the bleachers high on the front straight coming out of turn 4 they were free. I thought it was a fair deal. When you start looking around at prices for other sporting events a WoO show isn't out of line. I know at Knoxville preschool and under is free but they have pretty much unlimited seating, tracks with a limited capacity are going to charge for the seat.

If my memory serves me correctly, back in March the WoO prices at Lone Star Speedway in Kilgore, TX were $25 Adult and $15 for Kids. That was General Admission.
Not offering a discount of some sort for children is tough to swallow.

Lasalle Speedway for years was 12 and under free no matter what event was running. Really makes a difference when you are going to a $20 or more admission event. On the other hand, Chickensh*t Speedway in Rockford IL charged a woman $9 admission for a 7 month infant for the world famous trailer race a couple weeks ago.

I hope you filed a complaint at the track office and told them you were leaving.

the laues are great with kids prices and have a couple of meet and greet autograph sessions each year as well as a junior fan club & christmas in july where the co sponser gives away 20-25 bikes a year. hats off to jeff & amy for keeping family entertainment reasonable. P.S. the consession prices are by far the cheapest ive seen anywhere.

After traveling 500 miles to take my kids to their first Outlaw race, I felt that I didn't have much choice other than to fork out the cash. Shame on my for not checking ticket prices before I went. I'm glad to see that the majority of the race tracks across the country are doing things and at least trying to make it affordable to take the kids to the races. I can you promise you that I'll never go back to Dodge City Raceway Park either with or without my kids due to a variety of reasons of which tickets prices are but 1.
